Hi! Welcome to my mermaid page! My name is Sarah Ward, I'm 16 and from Connecticut. The reason that I started this sight was because I was given a project in English class that could be on any topic. I thought that mermaid were really beautiful so I decided to do it on that. As I searched the web for info on mermaids I discovered that there wasn't too much out there. I decided that I wanted to make a site that not only had good pictures but also gave info and poems about mermaids, so people could understand them more. Mermaids are such beautiful creatures and I think that they are over looked. Mermaids are beautiful creatures of the sea. The top half of there body is human-like, while their bottom half is a fish-like tail. Stories of mermaids have been around for centuries and they are part of our culture. Not all mermaids are female as popular belief, there have also been stories and pictures of male mermen, too. (I will be adding on a mermen site soon!) The picture to the right is a very exotic mermaid. It is by Chris Achilleos and I have never seen a picture like it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

This mermaid on the left happens to be fully clothed. But in many pictures of mermaids around they wear a shell "bra" or nothing at all. If mermaids were really and lived in the wild they would most likely wear nothing at all. A shell "bra" would be ver stiff and uncomfortable. If the knitted a shirt, it would eventually disintegrate from the salty sea. On my site and its links I will be showing all different kinds of mermaids. Some will be wearing tops and some won't.
