*The door opens and a vision of a man who has seen many
hardships as well as good times, makes his way into the Inn. He is some 6'6" tall with a 300 pound,
well muscled fighter's body. He wears Dark Grey field plate armor and a very finely crafted long
sword is fastened to his left hip. Upon his back is a Medium shield which, along with the armor and
sword, glows a soft blue. His face is one of kindness and warmth, but, carries an authoritative air
about it. As he is known to be quite able to handle himself in a fight. He gazes briefly about with
soft brown eyes as his hair, shoulder length and dark brown, gently shifts with his movements. He
makes his way further into the Inn and speaks briefly before tapping a keg of Dwarven ale and
taking a pull.* " Good day all !"
"Greetings and good day to you! I am Rhune Oaksier of the once
grand realm of Sulois. I see that you are interested in learning more of me and my humble
beginnings and past eh? Well, if it is a story you wish to hear, I am no bard, but will speak of it
as best I can recall it."
"I was born into a rather humble family, with perhaps the
exception of my father, Mobialus Glaven. He held the prestigious role of High Runic to the King of
Sulois, my homeland. My mother, Cynthia Oaksier was, to some a common woman, but as I later learned
from my father, was also a very strong willed and hard working woman. Alas, she died when I was but
seven years of age. In fact, it was when I turned three, she gave birth to my sister, Roxanne. Even
at that early age, I knew I was completely taken with not only the magicks father practiced, but
too, the crafts of war that the guards and various others took part in honing within the walls of
the realm's training hall. I would, at every opportunity, make my way to the hall and watch and
even mimic as best I could, the techniques that were being taught and learned there. "
"Now, this may sound as if this time in my life was as any child's might be, happy, carefree and without folly, however, fate was to be cruel and my mother died of some disease when I was seven. Then too, for reasons of his own, while I was staying with some friends of the family's, father left and was not heard from again. This was not however to be the only tragedy to befall me, Roxanne too, disappeared, kidnapped by some unknown captors. Being of headstrong stock, thanks to my mother, I set out to find her. As the trail I managed to follow closed in on the villains that had taken her, I was informed by the local authorities that, not only had they been made aware of her captivity, but too had imprisoned them, but Roxanne was not to be found. Somehow, she managed to escape prior to their capture. Thus I began to search for her and in so doing, began my path towards what I have become today, a warrior, mage and healer. Talents which I thank the Mother I have learned for they have allowed me to survive this long, where had I not learned them, I surely would have met my end long ago."
*He takes a sip of his ale and continues.* " I see you still wish to learn more, very well then, since I seem to not bore you yet, I shall continue. Within less than a month of leaving my homeland, to search for my sister, I met a man, a rather common looking one at that, but as I later was to learn, he was most adept with a blade and seeing a potential within me, took me in for a time and allowed me to stay with him and in exchange for working some chores at his home, instructed me in the basic use of a blade. After about two months, I felt that I needed to return to the task of finding Roxanne so, telling him of this and he being most understanding, I bade him a heartfelt farewell and he gave me his blessing and bade me good fortune at my assigned task and I returned to my search."
" I must interject here that during the whole time I was making
my way along the path before me, paved by some higher power, for what purpose I've yet to
comprehend, I could not help but wonder what became of my father as well. I had as best I could,
ascertained that my sister had but run away, hoping to evade further capture by those ruffians that
ad taken her in the first place. But, what had made my father seemingly abandon his family and to
what end? I would later on in my travels learn that reason. After what seemed like a small
eternity, I met up with yet another man, this time however, this man knew of defense with but my
own hands and body. Again too, was an agreement struck to earn my keep while learning to take care
of myself and with this teacher I remained for six months, the whole while planning my continued
pursuit of my sister's whereabouts. When this six months was up, I told him of my need to move on
and find my sister, he too bade me luck and with a blessing of his own, I set out again to further
my search and my experience as I grew and matured. I had reached my 9th. birthday by this
time."
