Nothing to do tonight, and a couple of friends are coming over...
Or you planned that big game and
only a few of your players show up.
What do you do? WHAT DO YOU DO??
Hunters is a page for troupe play in White Wolf's World of Darkness
setting where everyone is trying to discover or destroy the supernatural
creatures. It is a troupe style game so everyone can switch in between
characters and storytellers. The major advantage of HUNTERS is it
can be played anytime, with anyone. Storyteller's don't have to plan
a specific day, or try and get X players to show up on time only to be
disappointed when players do not show up or are late. Basically,
this page is designed to help players and storytellers play an interesting
game without the hassles of preparing a full blown game...
What is troupe play?
Troupe play has two definitions:
-
There is no permanent storyteller. Everyone in the game is a possible
storyteller within the campaign. After each adventure the storyteller
switches depending on who is there and who has an idea for an adventure.
-
The other definition is that the players do not have a single character
to play. Players can have as many characters as they want (so those
of you who just like making characters for the sake of making characters
could have a blast using this system) and switch off during each adventure
depending on which character is best suited for the adventure.
HUNTERS uses both definitions of troupe play to allow for the best versatility
in the game.
The Setting:
The setting is of course White Wolf's World of Darkness line of
games including: Vampire: The Masquerade, Werewolf: The Apocalypse, Mage
the Ascension, Wraith: The Oblivion, Changeling: The Dreaming, and
Hunter: The Reckoning. The difference between playing HUNTERS and
one of the above titles is that instead of playing a supernatural creature
you play a human (or lesser supernatural) who is trying to destroy or discover
the supernaturals from the above games, or other mysteries of the World
of Darkness. This means that you'll be playing humans from different
organizations such as the Inquisition, FBI, Arcanum, or other institutions.
Quick Note: This is not page which simply restates the information
presented in the hunters, and allies books from white wolf but helps you
use those books in a troupe style game. You do not necessarily need
those books to play HUNTERS but they are helpful.
