Bestiary of Nergalis

Alhoon

The underdark is now a haven for the alhoon, very few of the other races remain. The drow were forced out as the mind flayers allied themselves with their undead cousins. Those left are little more then food, however when food is difficult to acquire raids to the surface occur.

Dark Hunters

Due to the lack of illumination undead are free to roam and many have established their own cities. Using dark magic and experimentation many of the mortal races have bargained their souls for new abilities. These pets are at times nearly indistinguishable, and used as spies and mercenaries. The Dark Hunters are one such conscription. Hunting in bands of no less then six, their spirits are all tied together. When one falls in combat, the others all gain in ability. Huntsmen are just used for mercenary purposes. Each has a brand upon their forehead, which reflects an animal or creature. The more powerful the creature the stronger the huntsmen. The undead have not been able to put this to use on their own, as it only works on those that willfully surrender their soul. Huntsmen are muscle to accompany many of the weaker undead. Upon death they are irrevocably slain, only something such as a carefully worded wish could revive them. As well, speak with dead spells fail upon them.

Herdsmen

Herdsmen run huge farms of demihumans as cattle for ghouls and vampires. In some places to be convicted of a crime will lead to these farms if they are useless as gladiators or for the slave pits. Also when one grows too weak for the pits they become cattle. Herdsmen are also referred to as "flesh shepherds". They are considered more fiendish due to the fact they received little more then money for their services. Each shepherd is given an eye of the vampire, which is an amulet that gives the user the ability to charm and command people like a vampire. These amulets will not work on the master of the eye nor upon those created by the master.

Death

This horseman is thee greatest lich and master necromancer there ever was, he is always in the company of two liches of each type, including the dreaded psionic lich variant.

Famine
Famine is a unique looking lich, having taken on the look of a Pit Fiend. This horseman is equal parts demon and undead. He successfully combined a pit fiends soul with that of his own. His command over devils is as awesome as his control over undead. Famine surrounds himself with the best bodyguards of both species. He also has a succubus consort that is loyal without cause to him.

This horseman was a barbarian warrior who drove all the tribes into far exile or death, all of them. She shows no mercy and has gained immortality through the combined curses of the remaining shamans, making her a living embodiment of death and disease. As that is what she has become to them, a dread disease wiping out them without discrimination or reason; she is now an unliving lich knight and bringer of desease. She is considered to be an all powerful warrior and shaman who specializes in poisons as well.

War
This horseman has living phylacteries, having divided up his essence among no less then seven of his many generals. King Castillius of Tarsus is one of the known ones, referring to himself as the Right arm of War. War has divided himself as such to be near impossible to destroy and he has even used many of the races. There is no known primary keep for War.

Here is also another living phylactery of War, the one which has spawned legend from the fierce lizard men of the wastes. He was known to have killed their entire gathering of warriors, to prove his martial dominance and to gain reign over the largely lawless barren wastes. It is known only as Ruckus the destroyer, none have claimed to have survived him and lived to tell the tell for more than a 'Warrior's Lifetime.'
