Overview

The warriors of the Underdark are noted as powerful and tenacious in the extreme. Nowhere else on or under the Realms are their more a determined and capable warrior. Down there it is survival of the fittest, and thus only the fittest survive.

Description

Varying in appearance, the warriors of the Underdark can only be described as well equipped. Regardless of their race or career class all Underdark warriors come prepared for anything. And those who do not carry the proper equipment can appear to be weaker or less intelligent, but this is rarely the case; most times the most powerful simply do not need loads of potent equipment.

Role-playing

All Underdark warriors are ever vigilant, always ready for mortal combat and alert in the extreme. They are wary of others and slow to trust, especially drow and dwarves for they are typically the races that do the most double-dealing and backstabbing. The deep gnomes are also wary, but most times they flee and/or view others from secrecy.

Special Benefits

Underdark warriors are more hostile and very quick to enter combat, or in the case of the deep gnomes, quick to exit and evade their enemies. Most, if not all, of the deep races are unnaturally agile, or intelligent. Thus all Underdark warriors gain an initiative bonus based on either their quick wits or their superior reflexes, or in the case of the most deadly (like the drow), both. This initiative bonus is based on their Reaction Adjustment received for their Dexterity score. Thus an Underdark warrior with a Dexterity of 18 would gain a +2 bonus to his initiative, this bonus is cumulative with any magical speed and/or skills or proficiencies that also increase the being?s reaction speed.

Special Disadvantages

Due to all the intense wars and racial killings deep under the soil of the Realms all Underdark warriors suffer a -2 reaction penalty to all beings, and double the penalty to all racial enemies. Thus all drow would suffer a -4 penalty when interacting with surface elves.
