From Nymphet and Jaydon

I was born in the wilds of the Upper Trollfang in a small, transitory settlement of trackers and woodsmen. My mother was a noble elven woman who left behind the elven civilization to play in the woods with my father. She left her titles behind and together they had a wonderful life in the wilds of Elanthia. Though strong for an elf, she was not prepared for the difficlt labor of a pair of half human children and despite all that could be done for her she died giving birth to me. My father was grief stricken and for a long period unable to do more then hold my sister Nymphet and myself in his arms and weep.

The group became our family. Many were very independent and some were gone for months or even years at a time. The settlement became a place to trade stories, a roving base that moved on the whims of nature as each place became inconvenient to stay at. As soon as my sister could walk my father left for a month sojourn out into the wilds. Everyone raised the children of everyone else, teaching what they were best at and letting others teach their specialties. My sister spent a lot of time with the rangers like Roughbark, the crotchety old goat, while most of my time was spent in the village. I loved to tinker with things and fix them, spending time with a blacksmith for a while so he could teach me some basics. Old Zorlen Shadelock turned out to have a bit of a shady history and new a lot of roguish skills that he kept hidden from the camp but taught me in private.

A boy was born to Petal Shadelock, named Willie. He was a close friend and I held him very dear to my heart. He was two years younger then me and did his best to keep up with everyone. We became close when I was still a child, learning to swim he rescued me from nearly drowning under a log in the lake. We stayed together, with his expeditions out into the wilds being the exceptions. He was challenged by some of the older boys in the settlement to go and bring back a bear when he was 13. Some of them claimed they had had to and pointed to all the bearskins in the settlement to show their "kills". Willie was torn to pieces. It took several days to piece together what had happened, not being able to find the boy and then figuring out why he had done such a foolish thing. The children who had done the horrid thing were banished, even their parents so ashamed that they turned their backs on them. The pain ripped the settlement apart. I left immediately, the pain too much for me to bear as I saw his face everywhere I looked.

I went to Wehnimer's Landing and began to use the skills I learned from Zorlen to make a living for myself. After a few attempts at picking pockets I had enouh to get proper equipment and started hunting. I became quite comfortable and had a small place when six years later my sister showed up with a strapping man I had seen in the streets. She beamed when she saw me and we cried in each others arms, not having seen each other in so long had been hard on us both. She introduced the man as Jaydon and said he was acting as her protector in the town. She seemed very coy about him and when she hugged his chest possessively I knew she was attached to him as a close friend. They spend time together, him teaching her the city and going with me on my forays into the wilds when I am not busy at the tower. My life is going well, though the memory of the boy made me decide to adopt the name of Shadelock. He will always be a part of my life, and I hope I make him and his family proud.
