Sometimes you are getting tired of all around you. You don't want to work, there is nobody to visit, weather is horrible. It is too early to sleep, too unhealthy to drink, too useless to not drink. You long to do some exploits. But where can you find a useful exploit? All the pleasant and grandiose you know eighter immoral, or too bad for health, or crime punishable.
What can Role-Playing Game (RPG) offer to you? It offers an possibility to forget about your problems and to be expressed by some pleasant and accessible methods. Of course, all the people have their own methods of expressing. One wants to recharge any shootable device, second prefers to command and the third wants to think about some puzzles.
But there is one more group of people. They want all these things together, they prefer not only to play in game with some strict rules. They want to live in a world with its own complicated laws. In a world where you can express yourself as you wish; where you can fight and cast spells, chat with other players and explore new lands, complete quests and find new items, constantly upgrade your character. All these things are Role-Playing Game.
What is MUD? MUD is Multi
User Dungeon or Dimension. This is role-playing text-only online multiplayer game. I mean
this type of game doesn't contents any graphix. May be you already think that it is bad
game. You will wonder but I'll say you that very many people play in MUDs - much more than
Diablo for example.
What about graphix.... Guys! Aren't you already tired of tonns of this CD with bad horrible games? You may say about it "Yeah! Graphix is of course cool!!" and uninstall this game from your hard drive in the same day. Or, may be, you don't read books without pictures?
Now I'll tell you about Aardwolf - my favourite MUD.
Aardwolf is a fantasy
world. A world of elves and dwarves, warriors and wizards, dragons and unicorns, trolls
and paladins. What is a subject of game? Subject is upgrading of your character and
gaining hero. For this you should plan your adventures, guess secrets, find useful items,
gain skills and spells and may be I forgot about some others. Before the game you will
select your race and class. During game you will complete quests, find new artifacts,
learn new spells and skills.
The world of Aardwolf created to stimulate finding new friends and grouping with them - two or three persons may win in places where lonely person may find death. That is why some players create and join clans.
Clan is organisation of players with same ideas. There are about fifteen clans now in Aardwolf. And I am proud to be a member of one of them - The Order of the White Dragon. We are noble Clan of protection and peace. Every player may feel free to ask any member of Clan to help.
My favourite features of Aardwolf are wars. Sometimes wars are started during game. It is race war, class war or clan war. Before combat all the players organize their race or class team for this war. War goes until all the teams except one will be eliminated. Try to join wars sometimes and may glory be yours!
My favourite war is a clan war. It is especially interesting. We against them - what can
be better!
How to play in Aardwolf? First, you should have much wish because it is very easy to play but very difficult to learn how to play. You can play from Internet Explorer telnet-plugin. But if you want really have fun you should download Zmud. This is telnet-program for MUD-fans. Of course there are many helpers in game.
