I have recently learned of an ancient Chinese/Japanese form of magic that used symbols to invoke certain powers of the Earth and the elements that lie there. I am currently practicing to become a master of this form.
The study of the texts will take some time, but as my understanding so far indicates, the combination of a form symbol (body, sword/blade, armors, skin, and magic) to channel the energy into a being. The symbols that accompany these things are formless ideas, such as dreams. There are a few exceptions, such as tree and stone, but typically are the same.
