welcome to my page--for whatever that's worth. i'm gothmom--earned title of the mother of two gothchicks, and one "normal" daughter--whatever that is! i'm also known as the mominator, and the unamommer...ghenghis mom, and attila the mom. some of these appellations have been donated by my daughter--others by friends. take your pick--i remain, nonetheless, the meanest old mom in their lives, and proud of it! i love cyberspace--it is the stuff my childhood dreams were made of--from robert heinlin to arthur c. clarke--the things i read about and dreamed of have become reality. even my celphone is so much more that my " insurance policy"--it is my link the the stuff of dreamsare made of--the communication mode of the old science fiction writers. and it's MINE, do you hear me--MINE!!! i am fascinated with science fiction, speculative fiction, history, trivia, music--just all of life in general, i guess. i've always been a pig for knowlege and learning--one of my biggest fears is that i will croak before i learn everything there is to know! i think that this may be the purpose of eternity--study hall! i am married to a much bewildered, beleaguered, gentle soul who is still trying to figure me out after more than thirtysome years. he gets the purple heart and the gold shovel for all he does for me. he even puts up with the "zoo" we keep around here. i think it is a trade-off for me keeping him in bicycling supplies. those titanium frames don't come cheaply...( and he is learning a new phrase, too--"not tonight, dear--i have a modem!) he knows where to find me--somewhere on the web.

i am an "x-phile", and have long loved the old "twilight zone", the "night gallery", "one step beyond", and things of that genre. in my dotage, i have been enjoying all of the star trek incarnations, and have hungered for anything in those categories. my love for the x-files is a legend and a joke within the family and friends--but i don't care! it makes it easy to escape the everyday world, and visit some other reality for a while. all time favorite movies--"blade runner", "the highlander", "ladyhawke", and "harvey" (go figure that one out!!) my sense of humor is a bit warped, but not dirty. i love things bizarre, and favorite humorists include james thurber and gary larson. again--go figure. welcome to strangeworld...

the current zoo includes a garter snake, who is wintering over in the living room, a cat who thinks he owns the dog, a dog who is convinced that she is owned by a cat, numerous finches, a cockatiel who is afflicted with add, and illegal alien chickens in the back yard. of course, the hens have to be pets, because it's not legal to have livestock in the city. therefore, they are "lapchickens", who only happen to lay eggs. this also necessitates their having shakespearean names, and contributes to a general air of elegance to the henhouse. at the very least, we never want for breakfast! who would not love to have breakfast provided by tatiana and ophelia??!!??
