main page stuff

this page is basically started as a revenge act for the girls cos the boys have been slagging off most of us on chuk's site (i thought if i was going to mention it i should put a link) and it's time we had our say and put our opinions across, but then i thought it might get boring so i've taken it and turned it into my little site so it's now where i just say stuff and do stuff and post stuff and link stuff... but it's all going to be on the theme of female empowerment, youth empowerment, individual empowerment and generally standing up for what i believe in...

it's called artemis because i thought she epitomises the intended spirit of the site:

as well as the amazing title of 'moon goddess', she was the goddess of independent women (so an obvious choice), wild things(!), childbirth, and of chastity. she was also a protector of mothers and little children. artemis had many sides to her nature and could be wild and destructive on one hand, killing others with her silver arrows, and kind and generous on the other hand, helping women in childbirth. she is also the twin sister of apollo, the most revered (greek) god after zeus. her roman counterpart is diana whilst in serbian tradition she is known as yana.

other godesses i toyed with using for the site were:

  • isis (or stella maris) - the queen of all gods, the wife of osiris (the egyptian version of zeus), also known as goddess of the moon, she is the symbolism of all that is true and pure in a woman and the embodiment of female divinity - she is very cool
  • athena (or minerva) - the goddess of war, an example for all women to go beat them boys (no offence mark!) and wisdom, crafts and creativity. i might have considered her further if a tacky poster company hadn't cheapened her name.
  • thalia - goddess of comedy and good nature
  • kali - wife of shiva, indian god of death, she is the goddess of peace in death. it's kind of hard to explain, but she has several reincarnations and is known as the first mahavidya and also as adya, a name she shares with kundalini shakti.
  • as well as being my site, i've put a message board up so you can post things and stuck a chat applet in so you can have a bit of a natter. there's another page to it which is me-stuff like nothing whatsoever except me talking to myself and being all pretentious and self-indulgent, but if you're wandering in anyway you should have a bit of a peek... but apart from that it's basically going to be say what you want on this site, to a degree, but if we're going to set it up to counteract what the other site does or is, then we can't just mirror the lads' behaviour. there has to be a decent conduct on the message board and any content you want putting up or taking down etc can be mailed to [email protected]
