Battle at Pang Mai Soong.
In the battle of Pang Mai Soong-Pang Kam Kaw, the casualty of the Junta troops from 20th May 2002 to 19th June 2002, were not less than 800 dead and wounded. The casualty of their Wa allies were not less than 700 dead and wounded.
In 18-19th June 2002, men from SPDC's 33rd light infantry division (from Sagaing) launched their attacks on SSA positions, but fall into SSA trap and were surrounded. In these 2 days alone not less than 50 burmese soldiers lay dead or wounded. 1 Brigade commander was among the dead and 1 battalion commander was wounded. At the time of report, (23.30 hr, 19th June 2002) these Burmese troops could not break through and are still in the SSA's en-circlement. Large caches of arms and ammunitions were captured by SSA troups.
In 17th June 2002, 4 Wa soldiers under a Chinese commander, mutinied and killed 5 burmese soldiers near Nam Mae Kun, opposite on Pang Ma Pah, province of Mea Hong Son and deserted. It was known long before that Wa troops were not satisfied with their Chinese commanders as well as Burmese allies, who forced them to advance and die in the front lines.
On 18th June, 3 escaped porters have also reached SSA lines and are well
care.
On 19th June, at 16.05 hr, Burmese mortar rounds landed in Thai military camp
at Lak Theng, Weing Heng, province of Chiang Mai. At least 2 Thai soldiers
were hit by these shellings.

Suu Kyi visits Yenangyang
Burma's democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi had made a stop in the town where
her father attended high school on her first political trip outside the capital
since being released from house arrest last month, a source from National
League for Democracy (NLD) said yesterday.
The source said Mrs. Suu Kyi arrived in the petroleum-producing town of Yenangyaung
yesterday morning, some 48km north of Natmake, where the Nobbel peace laureate
spent Monday evening. Mrs Suu Kyi's father, Aung San is considered the father
of Burma's independence. He was assassinated in 1947, just months before the
Birtish granted the country its independence.
At Natmauk-her father's birthplace up to 1,000 people waited on the streets
to catch a glimpse of her on Monday, the source said.
Although she briefly spoke with some of then, she did not give any speeches
he added.
Mrs Suu Kyi would continue he travels to meiktila, another 129km northeast
where she was due to spend last night, the NLD source said. She would then
travel to Mandalay today.
