Nice story here. First I was living in a house full of drug addicts but didn't know how bad the situation was until I moved out. They kept me there because I kept loaning them money and paying the bills that they wouldn't pay. I was homeless and got misled into renting a room. Should have stayed homeless.
So they took over the phone and ran up huge bills, every time I tried to handle it they threatened eviction and got violent. The police wouldn't help. So I got a second phone for them to use so I could have mine back to use to get another place to live. They promised to pay for it and didn't.
I informed SBC that they were to take it over. When I called May 31st, 2005 a month after moving the SBC personnel said everything was fine. One week later they cut off my phone and my DSL which cut off my ability to make a living and sell excess stuff I had on Ebay.
Plus the month of May was lost because I kept filing service complaints that they kept closing saying the problem was fixed and it never was. I paid for 1.5Mbs DSL but it was stuck at minimum speed until the end of the month when someone there finally changed the speed restriction and allowed the full speed (about 1.1Mbs).
Now I have no phone service or DSL, no income beyond SSI, but at least a nice place to live!

Nice scam job! Seems every business (with a few exceptions) I dealt with while living in Sonoma County and now living in Marin County is bad and has robbed me blind.
SONIC web order form required to get the discount DSL service kept malfunctioning claiming the address entered versus the address reported by the credit card did not match. Normally a credit card should NOT be charged at this point but the program kept charging my account and ran a large bill. Fortunately I gave up while this was going on and contacted sales to report the problem.
I swear this is illegal and I hope to be filing a complaint but I am very busy trying to survive and recover from 3 years of disasters.

The last 3 years
1. AFTER living with and caring for my disabled parents, Mom died, that was easier to deal with that this other stuff:
2. My brother fought the estate causing trouble.
3. Then I couldn't recover the cars my brother took from the estate that he had no right to.
4. Then I blew it when I was conned into buying a car at Santa Rosa Chrysler Jeep who also screwed up the DMV on it and other problems.
5. Then the first eviction (for being disabled), and went broke about the same time. Homeless but writing bad checks to pay for a place to live since The Rescue Mission couldn't handle my hearing disability problems that I cannot control. BUT I was getting money to cover them (um, eventually).
6. Then I finally got a share rental and a job. A ray of hope, I thought.
7. Then I lost the job and then the share rental evicted me refusing to rent to disabled persons like myself and take welfare to pay rent.
8. Homeless and then offered a place in a shelter in Marin County so I went. My financial situation was going down the tubes, Social Security that I first applied for in 1994 was still way off...
9. The Mill Street homeless shelter (San Rafael, CA) also had trouble with my hearing loss and I was kicked out.
10. Then homeless and living in empty office buildings, etc.
11. Then I got hooked up with a Deaf fellow and went into a share rental with him.
12. Turned out he was a drug addict and invited 10 druggies (so called friends) to live there off and on stealing from me, etc. The landlord Sidney Swartz didn't care what was going on and even let them get late on rent many times. I've always been told one day late and I was evicted by all the landlords and lawyers.
13. I finally got the place I'm living in May 1st, 2005 and trying to start my life except for these mistakes that I made and the damage from things that happened. And now more damage from more debts (SBC, Satellite, etc.) being added though I'm trying to pay off what I can and recover my life. I have nothing left but I am trying to rebuild. But there is hope!!
