Hundreds of Industries throughout the United States from small town grain elevators to large power plants and steel mills own or lease locomotives. This site is intended to inform the railfan on the types of industries, the commodities and the locations of these industries.

Currently this site contains information and photos of 233 different industries in 16 states. 

In general, most grain companies and elevators are accessible and photos are easy to obtain,  photos from Power Plants and Steel Mills are more difficult to obtain due to the limited access to these facilities. 

Please note that when visiting these industries not all pictures are obtainable from public property;  ask for permission prior to roaming around on company property.  Most of the time permission is granted by an employee whom is more than willing to share information about the company and the commodities that are shipped and/ or received by rail.
