Nuts About Neopets Plushies!
last updated: 8/2003
Hello, friends! Witness the sheer insanity of the collector's
gene in my collection of neopets plushies!
The only plushies I'm missing is the 2001 yellow chia, and any plushes without
the Limited Edition
printed paper tags. The latter I could care less about since the plush looks
the same, so I guess my
addiction could be worse.... : ) Enjoy - and be afraid!
Four awesome kitties!

Neopets Plushies variations:
2001 vs. 2002 editions
* Differences from the 2002 version:
Reversed paper tag w/different coloration & LE 2001 on the back of the
paper tag
Darker nostril color that does not match the mouth area
The plastic inside the wing falls to the bottom, rather than the top of the
wing
It's fur is a red-pink rather than red-yellow
Smaller Body
Darker belly lines
* Differences from the 2002 version:
Reversed paper tag w/different coloration & LE 2001 on the back of the
paper tag
Darker blue on inside of ears and antennae
The width of the plastic inside the antennae is 1/8" less than that found
in the 2002 version
The antennae plastic is not sewn into the top of the head, making it more
wobbly
The "A" is a cooler color of yellow (Cad. Yellow Lt. as opposed
to Cad. Yellow Med.)
The "A" is attached to a loop of golden thread instead of tightly
sewn into the collar w/golden thread
The smile is larger and composed of more than 4 stitches, giving the appearance
of a single "painted" line
Hand Stitched Mouths and painted pieces:
Since each plush is hand-made, each will look a little different, esp. in
the plushes
with hand-stitched faces (such as the aisha), or painted parts applied after
the plush is made (such as the
Kougra and Fairy Kacheek). Machine embroidered mouths can also have some variation
in terms of
placement on the face rather than shape, but this is mainly caused by how
the fabric pieces w-the
embroidery are sewn together.
Kadoatie inner-ear color:
The first run of Kadoaties seemed to have a lighter color of purple inside the ears than the later ones.
Aisha V-mouth vs. Cup mouth:
Aishas can have 2 general mouth shapes, either a curved "V" shape,
to a rounded "U"
cup shape. I'm guessing this has something to do with which factory created
each
aisha batch - the few times when I've observed Limited Too employees dishing
out plushies
from the factory bags, each bag seemed to contain all aishas w/the same shaped
mouth,
either all "V"'s, or all "U"'s. It could just be me though.
I for one, prefer the V shape, since
it's higher up on the face - the lower U just looks frumpy.
LE 2002 vs. non-LE 2002
- There's really no difference between the plushes; the back of the paper
tag either
says "Limited 2002" edition, or it's not present.

In July 2003, I found some white aishas lying around Limited too for $3 since
they were dirty
and missing their tags. I picked them up and have started to make my own colored
aishas! I'm
currently made a glowing aisha, and am in the process of making a purple and
fairy aisha using
fabric paint pens. I'm also fixing up the smiles on the aishas since they
look a little "frumpy," lol.
(under construction)
The fabric paint pens are great since they're non-toxic, and
have very little clean up. My
place is small and not well ventilated, so I wouldn't be able to clean up
with chlorine
as you're supposed to with powder dyes : ( It's a long process with the pens
to make the
colors even, but it's a neat project for those free weekends.
Inside a neopets plushie:
(A white Aisha's head, inside out)
Regular polyfil stuffing,
a muslin pouch containing some plastic pellets,
and various machine and hand embroidered pieces.
(more pictures to be up soon!)
So basically...stuff you can find anywhere so that it's easy to
repair and/or re-stuff these plushies (great for aishas w/floppy necks!).
Now if only the fabric and floss was as easy to find...
