Sources:
1. Official Monthly Casualty Summaaries prepared by Capt Nathaniel Berg, Bn Medical Officer. NOTE: The many hospitalized for non-battle injuries and illnesses have been excluded from these Battle Casuality figures.
 2. Average casualty rate (50%) is found in Dep't of the Army, "US Army in World War II. European Theater of Operations, Volume "The Last Offensive", written by Charles B. McDonald, Office of the Chief of Military History, US Army. This 50% rate is much lower than Infantry units, equal to Army Air Corps units, and higher than Artillery units, and all other branches and arms.
