Introduction
The CIA has just hired you as their new international spy for the Eastern Hemisphere.  Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to gather information on an Eastern Hemisphere country of your choosing.  That information will then be presented and shared with your fellow colleagues.  Those spies, who successfully present the secretive facts of their country, will be assigned to that country for a year of work.  Remember that the facts must be presented in a precise, orderly fashion.

The Task
Decide which country in the Eastern Hemisphere you would like to work in for a year.  Then, using the resources listed below, research facts on your country.  Using those facts, you will fill in the Country Basic Fact worksheet, draw a picture of your country's flag, create a detailed map of your country, design a travel brochure for your country, illustrate a mural of the country's natural resources and finally write a detailed paragraph explaining your country's government.  The country information will then be compiled into a country file that you will share with your fellow spies.

The Process
In order to successfully present your information to your colleagues, you will want to follow the process given below.  Remember that spies must always do their best work in order to survive.

1.  Choose an Eastern Hemisphere country that you would like to work in for a year.

2.  Using the previously mentioned resources, fill in the blanks on your Country Basic Facts sheet.

3.  Using an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of white paper, draw your country's flag using crayons or markers.

4.  Using an 8 1/2" X 11" sheet of white paper, draw an accurate map of your country.  Please include the capital city, four other major cities, all major waterways, mountains, deserts, and oceans.  You will be using this map to find your way around your country, so you will want it to be as accurate as possible.

5.  Create a travel brochure for your country.  Be sure to include a variety of activities that will interest tourists from around the world.  I suggest creating this out of colored construction paper. Remember that pictures, bright colors and neatness always make an exciting brochure.  ( If you happen to get captured, you will be able to present this brochure and tell your abductors that you are in the country to sight see.)

6.  On a 8 1/2" X 11" piece of white paper, draw a mural that shows the numerous natural resources and exports that your country has.  At least six pictures are required.

7.  Write a one page summary describing your country's government.  Be sure to include the type of government, how the government is set-up, and the name of the current leader.  The proper government format is to have the paragraph typed or hand-written in blue or black ink.

8.  Place all of your pertinent country papers in the assigned order and place them in a file folder.  The cover of the folder should be labeled with your name and the name of your country.  To add a more unique quality to your folder, add pictures or symbols that represent your country.

9. Your final assignment will be to present your country information to your fellow colleagues.

Evaluation

Each spy will be graded on his/her country file.  The contents of the file will  be graded individually.  There will then be a combined total score of 24 points for the country file.  Each activity will be graded using the following rubric.

4 - Very Good
      *very neat
      *bright and colorful
      *precise and detailed

3 - Good
