Mechatronics is defined as the field of study involving the applications and design, a combinations of various field intergrated to a system comprising the various controls involving electronics, electrical and mechanical components or system with the microprocesors as the main heart of a control system or machines where software is written to program to run the require task or process in a production floor.

Pneumatics

Here is a brief view of how pneumatics equipments such as pneumatic operated tools and machineries that runs on air is connected to the air compressors through the air distribution line.

Types of motor commonly used in the automations industries are stepper motors ,servo motors these are normally mounted onto the robot arm.Besides are the DC motors and ac 3 phase motors commonly used for the hydraulic pumps.On the right is a motor control center.

FACTORY ROBOTS

In an automated factory Robots are designed to be a helping hand.They are employed to help user with task that are difficult , unsafe or boring for a person to do.Here you can see robot been used in the spot welding process for the assembly of a car chassis in the car assembly plant. Pick and place Robots are used in the light industries an example is the Cartesian robots.They are normally mounted onto machines.

Here robots are used in the conveyor system for the automated assembly line.

This is an example how conveyors are widely used in the electronics industry.

Computers and Networking

My present job I am working as an I.T technical Support Officer. This is a server room here, I am responsible for the maintenance of the servers,routers,switches that are connected to the network in the schools.Click the underline words "network" here is an example of how machine are networked using Fieldbus technology in a production plant.

MY PREVIOUS JOB EXPERIENCE

I am working in the electronics industries for about 20 years. In the picture here I am modifying the PLC program for a machine in the production plant.As an Electrical Engineer I has to set-up the machines this involve changing the production process of an automated line which involved small assembly robots.This include modifications of machineries involving electrical as well as electronics.Most of the machines here uses Electro-pneumatics to control the automated assembly lines .I am also involved in the modfications projects of new machineries as well as trouble-shooting of machineries.

SKILLS AND JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Reads and interprete electrical,electronics,pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical system schemetics

Install and adjust mechanical , pneumatics ,hydraulics , electrical and electronics machines or part of machines.

Fabricate simple machines parts by using handtools and joining process.

Fabricates electronics circuits to perform interfacing task.

Installs or modifies power or low voltage electrical wiring in new or existing installations.

Maintains and repair , with minimum downtime, industrial machineries in the event of failure.

Diagnose faults by using test equipments for electrical , electronics , pneumatics and hydraulics. system , including microprocessors and robot based equipments.

Install and calibrate electrical , electronics ,pneumatics controllers and transmitter for the control of temperature , pressure , flow and level.

Modifies existing machines or equipments to suits production process changes.

Carries out corrective maintenanance and preventive maintenance programmes on industrial machines.
