Rebels will see much weekend action at home

The Red Deer Rebels will be weekend warriors for the majority of their games at the Centrium during the 2000-2001 Western Hockey League season.

Red Deer has 11 Friday home dates on its schedule, as well as 10 Saturdays and six Sundays. The other nine home games will be played on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The Rebels will face the Calgary Hitmen 10 times -  five home and five away - and the remainder of their Central Division rivals eight times apiece.

Each of the Eastern Division teams appear on the Rebels' schedule four times, and Red Deer will do battle with each of the Western Conference clubs twice.

The Rebels open their regular-season schedule with three home games, entertaining the Hitmen Sept. 22, hosting the Kootenay Ice two nights later and taking on the Lethbridge Hurricanes Sept. 30.

The club's rookie camp runs Aug. 24-25, with the main camp starting the evening of the 25th.

Red Deer's first preseason game is Sept. 1 at Rocky Mountain House versus the Hitmen. The clubs also meet Sept. 6 in Airdrie.

The Rebels will play the Hurricanes Sept. 8 in Stettler and at Lethbridgetwo nights later, before participating in a tournament at the Red Deer Arena Sept. 22-24 featuring the Regina Pats, Saskatoon Blades and the Prince George Cougars.
