Hello friends and welcome to my site! | Steve's Latest Adventures!
I graduated from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas with a B.B.A. in Management in 1991. I have been working in Houston for the past six years as a Software Consultant for Universal Computer Systems. I am enjoying time away from work right now and I'm studying for Microsoft's A+ certification while job hunting. I will be updating the site about where I finally land. |
Well, I had a very profitable trip to Las Vegas at the end of June. I won $6,200 on that trip. Maybe it's no coincidence to those who know me that it was also my last consulting trip with my previous employer. I am ready to move away from Houston. I am looking at jobs in Austin and Dallas primarily right now.

Besides studying for the A+ certification test, I've been practicing my video poker techniques, trolling the online job sites and chatting with my good friends on the net. Kevin McGill, who lives in Austin, was my first supervisor at UCS several years ago. He has been helping me a lot with my resume and providing me with some excellent career contacts. I'm gonna start calling Kevin "The Dude" because he is slowly adapting the "Big Lebowsky" lifestyle. He's been sporting the sandals lately and has a "Lincoln" (the bottom half of a goatie). Kevin is currently seeking a sugar mama, so he can retire young and not have to work anymore. Karl Kurtz, who lives in Phoenix, finally got his civilian career started after serving 20 years in the Air Force and completing a 2-year degree in electronics. Karl is working for an airline in Phoenix doing a job similar to the one he had in the military - flight scheduling. I can't remember the name of the airline, but I need to find out which one it is. I've seen Karl put away 12-packs on a nightly basis and I wonder if this helps him create more accurate daily flight schedules. Then, there's Carl Perrone here in Houston. Carl's still teeing up job interviews, trying to break into the medical industry in one form or fashion. He's been going to the local horse track more frequently lately, and sometimes can be heard mumbling, "That damn horse was juiced... if that horse hadn't been on the juice, my horse would have won..." Chuck Mefford, who lives in Austin, has been working on his resume for about 3 weeks now. He lost his part time job cleaning offices, and he's now looking to abandon his pizza-delivery job for something more related to his degree. Chuck discovered the internet a few months ago and hasn't been seen or heard from much since... Scott Bloomer, who recently relocated from Amarillo (a good place to leave) to some little town near Branson, Missouri, wanted me to come up there for a visit this month. Although I appreciated the offer, I kind of want to be in Texas for job interview opportunities right now. Scott thought he could lure me up there by promising to set me up with a 21-year-old chick. Although that sounds tempting, I'm afraid she might look like Ellie May Clampett. Scott is doing a lot of fishing and making himself friendly with the hillbillies there. Well, that's enough for now. Remember to check back occassionally for updates.
