This site is under construction and we are looking for players and beta testers for the game for the next start-up the beta testing period will run for 2 game years this equals 24 turns.
Terminal Event s a play by e-mail (PBeM) that is run similarly to the standard Play by mail (PBM) game in the Sci Fi genre. It is recommended that players are 13 years or older. The game promotes inter player communications either through direct e-mail or through transmissions directed to be made through orders. The content at times can be adult in nature as people are known to get hot headed in dealing especially when they are subject to attacks. Hence the age recommendation. Well lets get on with what TE's about. Oct. 2074 - Alpha Centauri FTL probe completed after 30 years of development. Launched on the October 31 it is expected trip time six months, expected arrival date May 30 180 days from launch projected speed 8.5 times the speed of light. Sept. 2076 - Alpha Centauri FTL probe successfully reaches its destination. The probe arrives septemeber 25, 536 days late. All probe systems are fully functional. The anomaly is put down to a FTL relative time calculation error. Actual speed is approximated to 2.08 times the speed of light. Nov. 2089 - Halley's comet returns to earth this year and its trajectory is plotted to come very close to the earth. Warnings are issued for extreme tidal conditions and other bizarre weather conditions as well as geological events. The Maystrone Space Dockyards are moving to a tighter orbit to avoid collision conditions and the United Nations Lunar Facility is on alert. In the final leg of its journey the comet was observed to strike with an asteroid out beyond mars. The course is changed 1°27'14.7'' towards the elliptic. After the collision, Halley's comet spawns a sister traveller. There is now Halley a, the largest fragment and Halley b, the smaller. It is not known if the smaller fragment is the asteroid it struck or a actual piece of the comet. New course calculations are plotted and their new speeds are calculated. Halley a will now pass through a point so low that it will touch the atmosphere, Halley b will impact. Projections are done. It will be a Terminal Event. The Terminal Event will occur in 107 days.
Jan. 2090 - The effects of the collision are now fully known
and the UN Noah Project is brought forward. The population of the earth
is now told of the Noah project it is also told of the projected damage
from the impact. This will be a Global Terminal Event. If the winter
imposed by the impact of Halley b doesn't destroy society the passing
of Halley A through the atmosphere will likely burn off most of it to
CO2 or CO making the atmosphere unbreathable. It is predicted that the
earth if left to here own recovery will be habitable in about 2230 years.
With the use of terra formers similar to those used on mars colony domes
1104 years. Population is being moved to mars and lunar but they have
limits to how many people they can support. Mars is receiving preference
as the location for refugees. As construction facilities on mars will
allow the eventual support for the immediate overcrowding. Mar. 2090 - the Noah's are launched, three weeks before the projected impact of Halley's comet. It will take four weeks for Noah to reach the outer limits of the system where it can use its FTL engines for the journey. Apr. 2090 - As the FTL engines roar to life the earth is silent it has been for a week. No transmissions from Lunar Colony have been detected either. Mars colony's final transmission as the engines leap you away from the system "Noah, Earth is gone. Lunar is off axis and suspect colony gone. The space dock is gone. That leaves just you and mars colony for the human race now. Good Luck…" |
