Algol Timeline: 1522-1530 AY
The Nearside Confederation
"Hi. Me again with some more stuff on my re-worked Nearside
confederation. This time it is a timeline listing the events leading up to. and
related to the Nearside Confederation and it's creation using the timeline found on the
Mekton Baston as a base. Done mostly to aid in by general rewrite of the NSC. Even though
I tried to keep it current to what is happening now on Algol. I did revised a few
things campaign wise. Thus this should be considered a timeline of an alternate
Algol universe. As of this time I still trying to figure out how to work the
Algol/Aggendi hybrids into this. But give me time."
"Of course comments pro, and com are welcome."
"Enjoy."

1522 AY |
- Due to a lack of support by their planetary home nations and
tiring of their rule a group of Kargan and Elaran orbital colonies cut all polictical and
financial ties from their home nations and unite together to form the Nearside Federation
or NSC. A group of space holdings not allied with any one nation that is organized
along the lines of a democratic republic. Only Arkon, a Kargan colony refuses to join (it
is the only kargan colony that did). But still manages to keep it's ties with the
others that did. While concerned about the new "confederation" in orbit
both nations decide to do nothing as long as their mineral, water, and trade piplines
along with the continual maintenance of the Sunlight stations still go along as normal.
|
1525 AY |
- Falmak Kynis is elected Lord of the Kargan colony Jaral.
Months later, he is elected the first High Lord of the Nearside Federation.
- Seeing the Nearsiders as a bunch of renagade upstarts a group
of counter- reformist ex-UAA officials still loyal to their algolian nationilities forms
the Halo League to oppose the growing power "and tyranny" of the Nearside
Federation. Namely the growning number claims over the richest mineral and water
rights thruout the Algoli system. Claims those rights (and their profits) belong to
the "home" nations that put them up there. Naturally the Nearsiders
disagree with this, leading to numerous low-key conflicts between the two powers over
those holdings that rapidly escallate into a guerrella war. Especially those in Halo
asteroid belt (which the Halo League's main base is located), the Minar gas giant, and
Persephone ice planet. But all attempts by the NSC to bring this to the
attention of the nations of algol fall on deft ears.
|
1526 AY |
- Finally fed up with it all the NSC "officially"
formally declares its independence from Algol. Neither Karga nor Elara recognizes the
declaration and goes along with bussiness as usual. This forces the NSC to realize
that it will take more that words to make their declaration stick. Thus they begin
building up their army, mecha, ad naval forces a possible conflict with both algolian
nations, and the Halo alliance (which at that time they were already engaged in a low key
guerrilla war with).
|
1527 AY |
- The NSC seizes control of Sunlight 1 and the other sunlight
stations. Shutting down the entire solar array system, and threatening to destroy it if
their decoration of independence is not recognized. This forces both Karga and Elara sign
an indefinite cease-fire treaty to deal with the situation. Thus beging the year long
conflict known as the Orbital War.
|
1528 AY |
- The Orbital War ends in a Treaty signed on Algol stating that
the NSC relequeses control of all of the Sunlight stations back to the algolian nations
along with any mineral rights both nations had before the creation of the NSC. In exchange
both algolian nations finally formally reconize the NCS's independence, relequeshes
control of the Akron N-8 colony (re-occuppied by the Kargans durring the war) allowing
it's entry into the NSC. And reconized it's numous holdings thruout the algol
system-Including their holdings "occupped" by the Halo league. Establish a
clear set of rules for extablishing future claims within the algol system. And for
the major powers of Algol to put presure to their Halo league "allies" into
ending to their guerrilla war with the NSC once and for all.
- NSC releases the plans for their more advanced Haska/Gadyi
Sublight a.k.a. "Blink" Drive to the general alolian public in a successfull
attempt to help re-establish good relations with many of the agolian nations it once was
at war with.
|
1529 AY |
- Aggendi force attack and destroy the outlying NSC colony
Arkon. But not before a combined effort by both NSC, Halo, Kargan, and Elaran mecha forces
held the enemy back long enough to allow their ships to successfully relocate most of
Arkon's inhabitants to other colonies within the solar system. At the same time
alerting everyone planetside and thruout the system of the threat. This time
it isn't a hoax. The aggendi are heading towards Algol. Invasion panic returns
to the planet in force. The Aggendi War begins.
|
1530 AY
(The Present) |
- Aggendi forces begin attacking Algol surface targets in waves
as most small settlements outside major fortress arcologies are destroyed completely.
- Aggendi forces also begin attacking colonies thruout the
system as the NSC joining Algol's other space forces in engaging the aggendi time and time
again in numerous space battles to protect both their and other colonies and Algol
itself from their attacks.
- Doctor Tal and Lathrin Darkmoor reemerge from Muria and
propose plans for a multinational space fleet. The plans are unanimously accepted and the
Fleet is commissioned. Assigning the NSC to construct and crew two of the light
carriers.
- NSC flagship Pathfinder joins Halo league flagship Rimfire II
in seperate scouting missions to examine the accent stargate at the edge of the algol
system in hopls of finding technology to use against the aggendi invaders.

Note 1: In Rob's timeline Akron is labed
an Kargan colony while in MZ it's a Elarian colony. Thus to correct this I went with
Rob and kept Akron as a Kargan colony and added a new colony in N-5 that's Elaran (I
didn't want to
come up with a name for a new colony and the Elarians already have one thats nothing more
that a intial and a number [N-12]).
Note 2: It made more sense in the
end to make Akron join the NSC in the end of the war than when the NSC was formed-even
though it was blown away by the aggendi in 1529.
