Burnelli Semi-flying Wings

From the 30s onward Vincent J. Burnelli designed a series of psuedo-lifting body transports, which featured a reduced wingspan due to the lift produced by the fuselage. The top two pics show the Canadian Loadmaster of around 1947. Built by Canadian Car & Foundry, {Later Bombardier} it flew for a time as a bush plane in the Canadian north country. The bottom photo shows an earlier version, taken by the T/Sgt Siebenaler while attending one of the mid-thirties air races.
