Fairey Gannet

Built to a 1945 British specification, this three-man anti-submarine aircraft had a rather protracted development and first flew in 1949. Designed as a complete weapons system, it carried sensors AND ordnance. Two turbine engines drove a pair of contra-rotating props. Despite fairly clean lines the combination of big belly with a pointy nose with altogether too many bumps mark this one as a personal favorite in the ugly department. Pictured above is a Gannet A.S.4.
