I just saw the alert that fortunecity is closing at the end of the month, I'm working on setting up a new site elsewhere and will post the URL here when it's ready.

Now that I have at least a draft version going back 11 generations I decided it was time to upload this site. Please bear in mind that this is a draft version.

Please see the Contact information page for my current updated email address, as many of the subpages have not been updated to show my current address. Messages sent to the old address's I may or may not eventually get. Also please note that the "Last Update" tags on the bottom of the pages are when I last updated the version of the page on my HD, and there might be a significant lag time between that and when I next get around to uploading the pages.

I have neither the time nor the resources for professional genealogy. As a result this is largely 'Internet Genealogy' and all the problems that go along with that are found below. In other words this work would not qualify as 'academic' and everthing should be taken with as much salt as deemed necessary by you, the reader. I have many a time had to throw out entire branch's of my family tree as I found it was wrong, and I fully expect to have to do so again in the future if someone can show me misteak's. Also, many times there are conflicting sources, sometime serious, others just minor disagreement on the dates. This page has 'the best guess' information and the subsequent pages have more info including 'alternate' information.

As an additional note, pushing genealogy back more than a few generations quickly becomes problamatic. Anything back before the 17th Century is especially troublesome so additional skepticism may be required. Beyond a certaint point you must rely on other fields such as heraldry and oral (family) history (some would say legend) and even mythology, all of which are unconfirmable and known to be riddled with inconsistensies. Nonetheless, these sources were accepted in their day and given our inablity to prove other wise, I will use them when I feel it is appropriate. Mostly such sources are only for lines of the famous or wealthy, and many a time I have seen a false link to a famous historical figure disaproven so I am particularily wary when I come across such a link. Given that I have in a few cases accepted such a link, it is mostly those further links that I have yet to put up on this site as by eleven generations most other sources have petered out.

For privacy reasons, information on living individuals is not given, only their relationship to me, ie "My Father". For deceased individuals who have, or are suspected to have living children, I give their initials only.

With all this forewarning and advice now out of the way, I welcome you to look around. Below is the main index to this site, showing the various index & appendix pages of this site, an ASCII tree, and a list of surnames.

Alternatively, for a 'bottom-up' exploration of this site, select a line of one of my Great Grandparents to begin:

  • Weatherup Irish (suspected Scotch-Irish) lineages- Michigan, northern Pennsylvania, upstate New York, Ulster
  • Allison Lineages from all over- Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ontario, Quebec, New York/New Amsterdam, England, Netherlands, Morocco, etc. (one of the larger portions of the site)
  • Mullinax The southern side of my family - Texas, Georgia, South Carolina.
  • Shepler Assorted German, Canadian, and likely Scottish, lineages converging in Michigan- I don't have too much info on this portion of the family
  • Haas Alsatian and German lineages that immigrated to Northern Pennsylvania and Upstate New York
  • Hardin This line remains a bit elusive, unfortunately. Texas, possibly Tennessee
  • Strope A quite ethnically mixed line- English, Danish, German, Scotish - in Michigan and Pennsylvania
  • Root English, Belgian, & Irish lineages in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, England, and elsewhere. (one of the larger portions of the site).
