Hank to Hendrix, The Guitar Company was formed in October 1996. The principals in the company are Royden Moran and Wayne O'Connor. Royden Moran is a long time resident of Peterborough and Wayne O'Connor, originally from Mississauga, is now a resident of Bridgenorth.

Eden custom acoustic cutaway guitar

We formed Hank to Hendrix in order to offer local musicians two services:

We are capable of doing neck resets, guitar refinishing, refrets and just about any other repair required to bring an ailing instrument back to life. To our knowledge, we are the only full service guitar repair shop in the area.

Wayne O'Connor has been building killer electric guitars for the past nine years and received some of his experience while working for The Guitar Clinic in Hamilton, Ontario. He worked under the direction of George Ferinetto, the creator of the world class F basses played by Alain Corant, Will Lee of the David Letterman Band, and many others. Wayne's custom electric guitars are a fine example of quality craftsmanship and his original designs are inspired by the classic American Gibsons and Fenders. His attention to detail is in part a reflection of his 21+ years as a professional musician.

Royden Moran is a professional architect who cashed in his set square (but not his computer) in order to build fine acoustic and electric guitars. After 18 years in architecture, 10 as Chief architect for Greer Galloway, he resigned, took the summer of 1996 off, and traveled to Big Rapids Michigan to study guitar repair and construction at Bryan Galloup's Guitar Hospital. Back from Michigan in the fall of 1996 and ready to just do it, he was introduced to Wayne through a mutual friend, local musician John Crown. The rest is history.

Royden and Wayne

Hank to Hendrix has enjoyed a lot of success since its inception. Our clientele of local professional musicians includes John Crown, Buzz Thompson, George Bertok, Connie Burton, Bobby Brioux, Robin Hawkins and Terry Guile (Jericho's Wall) to name a few. We also have custom guitars in the works for Kim Cavanagh of Peacock and J. P. Hovercraft.

Thanks to the Peterborough Folk Festival organization and all those who visited the Hank to Hendrix booth "the repairs and orders just keep comin' in!"

Rick Washbrook's innovative blues guitar workshop focuses on the "call and answer of the blues."

At Hank to Hendrix we believe that quality is something that can benefit the whole community. That's why we have presented a variety of guitar workshops with well known blues and jazz musicians Rick Washbrook, John Burrett and Rick Fines. We have also presented a MIDI Recording workshop with George Bertok and a very successful guitar restoration workshop with Bryan Galloup from The Guitar Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
