"Feeding Francis serves up music with a side order of energy"by Rhonda Sorensen, of the Reporter & the Grove Examiner. May 22nd, 1998.
When Feeding Francis takes the stage, the band wants the audienceto feel its energy and enjoy the music. " Our music is energy," says singer Cortney Osness. He and band members Chad (Oly) on drums, Tyler (Tuna) on bass and Dalmer (Shaun) on guitar will be launching their first CD, Normal Friendly Contact with Children, at the Stony Plain Community Center May 22nd. Cortney says the title of the CD was thought up by the band after members read an article about how men are not considered safe around kids. " We play our music for kids, so we thought we'd send out a message that we're not aht bad," he said. The name of the band, however, did not stem from any social issues, but rather from the daydream of a kid. Cortney bashfully explained that when hewas 15 and working for his dad he simply thought the name Feeding Francis would sound good over a public address system. The band started out about five years ago as a garage band. The current members have been together for about a year. "We've improved quite a bit," said Cortney. Taking inspiration from his friends and personal expiriences, Cortney writes the lyrics for the bands original music. " It's a great emotional release and lets me speak my mind," he said. "It's about how I see things. Sometimes it gets a little graphic, but that's just me."
