Capitans Log.
---*[11/12/04]--- - This night's gig started off right with Bob'N Joe making sure all [ MADAMOSEL's KNOBS ] were properly tweaked....Onword-ho! After the first set I talked to Carlata, she seemed grouchy...after the second set... or so... she brightened up back to the cheery Carlata that I've come to love. Lots of college kids stroled in and hung out wich was a bit unusual, but who could blame them?? We were smokeing awesome all night long!
---*[11/10/04]--- - Got to the Winedale for the Open Mic 8:25pm and comfortably set up the drumset with mucho time to spare before the night kicked off. First up on the chopping block was Lee Fortune, and Mark, A.KA " Mark and the AllStars" and we were awesome together! Mark might not know it, but he's realy sounding great lately. We realy clicked with Lee this time and I think he likeed what we did. Gray'N Way tried out some new songs that I've never played before. Let's see,,, I Had three shinerbocks'N a grand-evening'N got home safely'N fell asleep in a fraction of a second! NuffSaid!
---*[11/08/04]--- -I arrived Ten minuts late getting to the Muddy Waters Open Mic only to fined the other Bandmates setup and ready to start... this time with Jerri's percussion rig in my usual spot. [ HMmmm ] So0o, I set the [ Purecussion HeadSet ] drumset up just to the left and off of the stage insted. As I feard, Playing in front of the Girls had an added perspective to my otherwise dull view. [ MmmmHmmmm! ]
Communnication was much easier due to me being able to just look'm in the eyes insted of the backs of there heads like usual.
I decided to show off my balloon twisting abilities to the girls and eveyrone else that was there. Later on that night my man Stew [ The Bass player ] showed up! I hadn't seen that guy in about three months or so.
Later still, Some people [ who will go un-named ] weren't having a good night [ fighting a bit ] but, " I " otherwise had an exceptionaly fun evening. All my balloon creations disapeered at the end of the night and the BandMates treated me to Taco Cabana! [ Hey...what can I say?....I'm a cheap date! ] Olay!
---*[10/06/04]--- Well, As you can plainly see if you look below this entry that it's been a long time since I've entered into my Capitans Log here at dblacklab.com. Much has happened in the past three years so I'm not going to go [ long ] into it here.
I play drums with a band called " Gray And In The Way" now http://www.grayway.com and we sound smoking together...and I also support The " Band Mates" http://www.bandmates.org. As well, I support The Wednesday night open mic at the Winedale Tavern on Greenville Ave, and another open mic on Sunday at the MuddyWaters on lowest Greenville Ave. Both open mic's happen every week of the year and I hope to see you at them!

---*{05/22/01}-- Hello all Denver friend's! (you know who you are)!!! Be sure to sign the guest book. It would be great to record you! I hope to see you all vary soon.
---*{05/01/01}-- The Weeds just finnished a six song demo last weekend. It was kined of hectic/hard-work setting everything up and plugging in, due to the band "set up" happening a day late, but the post production came out with ease. Playing drums and watching peek levels is quite challenging. The master mix is quite interesting and the band was satisfied with it.
---*{04/22/01}-- Yesterday; I put on the "Earth Day Music Festival in the Bob Woodruff Park." Early; it was a little cloudy, but thin hazy cloud's turned out to be the perfect thing to keep it cool. Talk about the right time to try this thing.
People there all the sudden found themselves standing in musical Heaven!
The thick dynamic music with-organic green, soft young grass and tree's, was something disturbingly missed by all (you could see it in there eye's). Everyone openly volunteered to say that it was unbelievable how beautiful the park actually is, compared to how unpopular ( virtually unused ) it is, its as though you have a private day at the park. With the trees so green and the plants so tall you couldn't ask for a better backdrop to the three bands that made it out( Tickle spot, Left For Dead and the great Bottomfeeders.).
The music was staggeringly good, because there was something in each band for everyone. To the few but obviously lucky people that came out to see it; I would personally like to say "Thanks; and your always welcome." I can't wait to do it again.
---*{04/19/01}-- It has been a long time since I've had mental capacity enough over my College English class assignments; to actually sit down and update this news page here; sorry.
Anyway, I for one have been emerged in working my ass off, trying to get this thing to support itself and me. The solo album that Mark Cook and myself where recording has been like impossible to Finnish but fear not cuz we will have it for you by summer!
He like myself has been really busy with his band 99names of god Click here for MP3 except I'm not in 99namesofgon. :( BooHoo!
Thank you to everyone who has commented in my Guest book. However, Please don't leave links to skin sites. I mean, come on people, we all know the WWW is made up mostly of these virtual waist lands. With out your handy-dandy little links to such places we would all do well. I for one would like to think of this effort in communication and artistic creation to be a tasteful experience for all generations that come across it. Thanks for cooperating.
I have been working in and out of countless so-called bands. Trying them out to see if I can make something out of this area of the nation (Texas), and after much wasted effort, I think I have found three vary sure-shot acts. And they are: The Bottomfeeders, Left for Dead and the Weeds. I, over the last three months auditioned a total of x~ only to fall on three pretty quality acts. I can tell you this about the Dallas TX, area, the pickin's is slim, play to win.
---*{3/4/01}-- There's a duo album being recorded with Mark Cook, and myself. It will be a very rich and eclectic album in the way of real time improve between mediums. We started the project late November, and threw more down early January. Likewise we have been in the planning for some final overdubs with Marks vast array of string instruments sometime near the end of March; we hope. We should have the post production finished up within a month or two after. Here are some pictures taken of us in the act. We have been talking highly in favor of playing some live dates post the albums release. Just think; truly a two peace band. Click here for MP3'S
This here is Mark Cook and his mighty Waur Guitar! Vary gourmet

--:*{10/27/00}-- I know it's bean a long time since I've updated this think but I've bean totally busy with trying to right some music. The project with Mike, Mark, and Kris is going well, Mike, has bean so good as to build a little web site with all our sequins downloadable on Mp3 format!!!"good microphone + little portable minidisk recorder = Ripped to FTP/ Mp3 on a web site so that the hole world can hear us develop!!!(its like letting the whole wide world see how we "MUSICIANS" mess every thing up for months only to eventually start molding some kind of finer sound that might actually be good to listen to. We all currently practice only once a week at Mikes house, with little room for loud expansion and little time to practice at all, but somehow its all holding continuity in a subconscious way ( it would be interesting to see what would come about if we all really took this time together a little more seriously and got a natural groove going that's ready for live- performances. All and all, I'm vary exited to be a part of this project.
---*[09/11/00 "First jam with Mark,Kris(99namesof god)&Mike Mcgary"]*--
The jam was vary refreshing/interesting.We couldn't play with much volume, so
it was vary hard to sustain a network of creativity. It's vary rare that I get to jam with great musicians like these people! I recorded a small sample of that nights jam with my really pathetic mini tape recorder(it sounds better ripped to Mp3 then the tape).
---*[09/02/00 "99 NAMES OF GOD" ]*--- finnished a 3 track demo for a compilation album. ( There is a MP3 sample of one of the mix masters to download in the left subpage.)
