Graveland are a Polish blackmetal band reviving the long dead (well...2 or 3 years)
art of regression,incorporating celtic rhythms, sparse riffing, and deathly
grim vocals. Drawing on influences like Darkthrone, (the regression
gods, and real founders of the Norwegian blackmetal movement) and early
Emperor, and a dash of Burzum, plus their fellow Poles, Behemoth;
Graveland have taken their anti-trend stance to the extreme, their
early albums/eps/demos the result of layering trebly guitars and sparse
chaotic vocals on to brutally underproduced drumming.
And thus, are frowned upon by today's blackmetal masses, a culture more
enthralled in the rockstar antics and riffing of the likes of Satyricon
and Cradle Of Filth....*smirk*...
