In the wake of the imploding scene that was 'britpop' still walks tall a band that has captured the greatest moments in musical history in a blend that surpasses all. While Oasis languish behind a wall of sound and still lay claim to The Beatles back catalogue and Blur turn to America for their latest tangent The Charlatans remain focused in their pursuit of the title. Having strolled easily through the last two labels attached to the UK scene, those of 'baggy' and even 'dadrock & britpop' (cheers Noel & PW) The Charlatans in the words of Mark Collins have always managed to 'do something that feels right.'

A trip to any discerning record (and I mean vinyl) shop will show you the roots from which The Charlatans vibe is grown. From Bob Dylan to Sly and The Family Stone through the funk of Stax and the subtleties of Folk it is clear that these gems have been ressurected. For evidence you need only check:

Following a blisteringly good warm-up gig in Stoke with an after show club event The Charlatans went on to rule the V98 festival with another two blinding shows. Two new songs were aired, 'This House Is Not A Home' and 'Blonde Waltz' We were also treated to a wicked version of 'Area 51' and 'Clean Up Kid' Reports from around the globe have agreed with the UK reviews with top shows in the US and Japan.
