I was surfing on
Yahoo! and found their interview with The Artist. Good stuff, you should go and check it out.I have reprinted a small portion of it here that I think is relevant to where you are and what I hope you are here to do...
(YIL is Yahoo!, TA is The Artist (duh!)) YIL: How do you feel about tape-trading and bootleg CDs? Have you ever bought a bootleg of one of your own performances?OK, so it's not a permission slip, but it gives me a small piece of mind that He at least knows about and tolerates the trading. TRADING, not selling! That's why I am here and if you are not here to trade, you've come to the wrong place! I DO NOT SELL HIS MUSIC, I TRADE IT!!!!

Sorry guys, but start hitting the local record stores (no, not the ones in the mall). Check out the local used collectable record stores too. Eventually you'll find something and you will have your first trading asset. Then, start networking. Its taken me several years of casual trading to get me where I am, we all have to start somewhere. Anyway, have fun and trade away!

I use name brand tapes (Maxell and Sony usually) and would expect that the tapes others send me will be on something similar (no Dollar Store tapes, know what I mean?) If you're curious about what tracks are on the tapes, I will provide track listings on request. But please be reasonable and patient. My goal here is to network with other "friends" and share the experience that is...
