| A dash of knowledge, two dashes of motivation, and truckloads of practice. That's my formula. If you think this sounds boring, I'll have to disagree! Most vigorously. Check out this dissection of a pre-postmodern being - you'll find pieces that are anything from outrageously boring to just plain outrageous. Knowledge, motivation and practice...
Is it really that simple? Well, probably not. But it's a starting point. Dash of knowledge: Informatics & Information Science. The formal bit from the University of Oslo, Norway. Over the years this dash has taken on a flavor of organization, management and strategic use of technology. Add fragments of modeling theory, and how humans relate to themselves and others. Two dashes of motivation: Inspirations number one, two and three are people, some other people, and some quite different people. Basic motivation is to stretch the thoughts, mix with people (of type I, II and III) and check the results for funny-factor, bunny-factor and "Hm. Interesting. Maybe."-quotient. Being a member of GroupK helps, too. Truckloads of practice: Many things should never be done. Some things are only worthwhile the first time around. But quite a few things grow on you with repetition - and show their true selves only after a ridiculous number of repetitions. And, after repeating it 10.452 times, you might get quite good at it. There's a Pauli Word (in one of his letters to the Corinthians) that says, "Try everything and stick with the good stuff". Seems like a good idea.
