 A History Of Manatoba

In the time before time was born a warrior. His name was Manatoba. Little was known of this child until, about his fourteenth birthday, at that time great wyrms roamed the lands of the earth. They terrorized the countryside and carried off many a victim and as much of the spoils of the lands that they could carry and buried them deep within mountains. There the wyrms slumbered.

It was at this time not long after a Halfling, named Bilbo and his young ward, Frodo had their adventures, that Manatoba found himself in the company of Knights of the White Rose. A compilation of ex-mercenaries banded together to combat the somewhat timely rise in the wyrm population. These men, with Manatoba's uncle Stansloff as their leader hunted down many of the wyrms.

Manatoba quickly grew into manhood with his comrades and gained their respect. He grew in stature and inwisdom, for the wyrm was not just any beast, for they were wise in the ways of concealment and deceit.

As time passed Manatoba took a wife, a young peasant woman named Elaine and they had two children, Avilinne and Diego. And it looked, to his friends as if Manatoba had finally decided to hang up his shield and forget adventures and glory for life at home.

But as most tales go, this one came to a tragic end. The remaining wyrms, not too pleased with these small, although brave band of humans and elves that called themselves Knights of the White Rose, decided to end the constant torment allotted to them.

In a sudden attack they rose up out of their caves, unified and hit the town of Merkimish and leveled it in one night. They left no one alive, Manatoba's wife was visiting her mother in the town at the time, and met the fate of the inhabitants. Manatoba was devastated, for also in the town twenty knights perished, Stansloff was among them, Manatoba left his children to be cared for by a dwaven family. He took up his sword and sword that the vile wyrmswould pay for the loss in kind.
Twenty years went by, anger kept Manatoba going, he roamed the earth slaying the wyrms where he found them, few escaped his wrath, although some say they still are around, but so few that they have turned to laying in hidden caves muttering and hoarding what gold they have taken, vowing one day to grow in numbers to retake the world as their own. Humans be damned!

When Manatoba, now aged forty found himself tired of the hunt, he returned to the village where he had left his children, only to find that the family had left and their whereabouts were unknown. Saddened, and thinking faith had abandoned him, he wandered searching for a quiet place to settle down and live out his remaining years.

Onwards he pushed his tired war-horse, he turned, one day into a secluded valley,he found a small dwarven village. He always was fond of dwarves, hard working, bold talking and just the hint of greed that Manatoba always admired. They looked at the big, graying human with the clear, blue eyes and took to him pretty much, they needed a warrior in the parts to keep them safe, why not this one with a big sword and enough scars to keep the dwarven girls in awe

So Manatoba came to stay with them. While he was walking near a cave he met a cloaked figure, thinking him an evil wizard of some sort, drew his sword, but the figure mearly waved a hand and said "no violence in this land Manatoba, let peace be the way and keep my friends the dwarves happy.Tolerate no outsider who has thoughts of evil. For my name is Karn, and before me there was no other, except the light, and Karchan, as this place is called

is my land, and all who dwell in it my children. The dwarves have seen the power and justice in you, so I shall make you my deputy, to keep them happy is your goal and to make Karchan a place where none are unhappy, except those who have nothing in their hearts but evil."

There were many adventures still ahead of Manatoba, Karn, and the other inhabitants of the land, and in time, Manatoba was reunited with Avilinne and Dieago~Montoya. He found love here too, once again, and with Milady have settled down in Karchan for the lifetimes allotted to them.
