This site is a tribute to Mr. Do!, possibly the greatest arcade game of all time. Mr. Do! appeared in 1982, during that golden era after the first, simple games such as Space Invaders and Asteroids had appeared, but before the modern obsession with graphics became more important than game play.
What made Mr. Do! such a popular game? Part of the attraction inevitably lay in the charming graphics: the munchers chomping apples, the apples wobbling and falling, and Mr. Do! himself sliding about, throwing his ball and getting squashed by apples. However, the appeal of Mr. Do! lasted long after the novelty of the graphics wore off. What made it so durable was the sheer depth of play. After playing for several months you were still finding new stratagems. Scenes which seemed impossible at first always yielded after thought and practice.
