Hmmmm.....What's new?

Update July 27,1999    Whoa! It's been a very long time since I updated this page. :(  Oh well, I'll try to be more diligent, and update at least once a week. ;)  What's been going on in the past month? Let's give it a shot, shall we?

My family, from up in Boston, came down for a week long visit at the beginning of July. We had a nice time while they were here. We visited Washington, D.C. (Smithsonian, monuments, government buildings, etc.) Then we toured some of the many famous Civil War battlefields around Fredericksburg. My house is in the middle of the Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania battlefields. As such, we didn't have very far to travel on that day! I've read many history books regarding the Civil War, and also watched a few movies, too. (Glory, Gettysburg, They Died with Their Boots On ;)) It is very eerie and chilling to walk the on the same ground that thousands of men died on over a hundred years ago. Spotsylvania, for example, has a spot called the Bloody Angle. The Confederate trenches formed a right angle here, and Grant decided to order a frontal assualt. The Union troops were caught in a withering crossfire that riddled their lines and killed thousands of men. Afterward, the surviving participants tell of rivers of blood, ankle-deep flowing throughout the area. Grant, devastated by the loss of so many men, vowed never to order such futile assault again. The result was the advent of true trench warfare, that lasted til the end of the war, and straight through to WW I..

My 16 year old brother stayed behind when the rest of my family returned home. He is going to work with me as my helper for the summer. His intention is to save up TONS of money, so he can buy a brand spanking-new computer. I'm happy that he's been working hard, because not only has he been a great help to me, but when he goes home, we'll be able to play RoR online together! :)

My wife and daughters took a week long vacation in Ediston, South Carolina, near some beaches. The girls had a wonderful time and came home with unbelievable tans. I suppose their Philippino blood allows them to tan so well, because the lord knows I can't tan for anything.  :(

I bought a few new toys for the computer while they were gone, and a couple of games, too. I added a games link, so you can check out the new stuff there.

I also deleted all the pics of the RoR Tournament games. I have a 20 megabyte server space, and all those pics were taking up approxomately (sp?) 15 MB! If there is a particular picture(s) you like to see, then let me know and I can e-mail it to you.

I'll post some War Stories and finish the Links page next week.

Til then, cya!

Update June 21,1999    This was a busy weekend for our family. On Friday evening I helped my brother-in-law and his wife move into their brand new townhouse! It is an awesome ~2000 square foot, all-brick, three level, three bedroom, house in the center of Arlington, VA. It has hardwood floors throughout, with a fireplace and garage. The neighboring TH's are arranged in a square leaving a beautiful courtyard in the center. The main entrance opens to a 150-200 square foot brick patio, protected by a vine covered, three foot high fence, and proceeds into the courtyard. Congratulations, Mark and Andrea, you have a wonderful house. :)

On Saturday, my wife and I did housework and prepared for Victoria's first ballet recital. We were so nervous for her, but when her time came to perform, she was GREAT! She made most of her moves and exaggerated many of them, too. :) It was amazing to see all the little ballerinas having a blast, and dance so well. Her cousin, Rosy, also performed with her, so we had a double dose of family pride that night.

Rosy's sister, Rachel, left on Sunday with her family for Oklahoma City. She is entered in a National Riding Contest, and our best wishes and prayers are with her that she'll have fun and do well. Good Luck, Rachel.

On Saturday evening, my Rise of Rome Tournament team, First2Die, was clobbered by the Happy-Go-Lucky team. I had a horrible start, which was made worse by APC_Doink's chariot archers and Hittite war galleys. :( Game 2 is on Friday night, and we'll need our best effort to beat this team. Good job, Happy-Go-Lucky, we'll see you on Friday!

Sunday, Father's Day, was a very relaxing day for me. My family went out with the in-law's to a local pancake house. Everyone had a great time except my Mother-In-Law, who was never served her meal! The waitress apologized and told us that they were very busy and only had one waffle iron. Go figure. She nibbled on our food and then we all went home. My wife gave me a reprieve from doing ANY type of work. :) So I watched two RoR Tournament games before tuning into mthe US Open on TV (congrats to Payne Stewart- what a great putt to win with!) and later, helped my wife finish some computer work. She fed me a HUGE steak and potatoes dinner which was delicious. (Being married to an oriental woman means that steak and potatoes is, indeed, a rare treat!) That evening, we rented, "Step Mom" starring Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. It was a fine movie, but certainly not the comedy I was expecting. Bring some tissues for the wife if you want to watch it!

As far as this website goes, I combined the What's New and the HomePage. This way when y'all visit, you'll see something new, I hope. I've also added two more RoR stories in the WarPics page. Enjoy, and don't forget to visit the forum and post new topics or reply to the existing topics. Thanks. :)

Til next time, Cya!

Update June 17,1999    I decided to add a Forum today. I'm not requiring registration or passwords. Just post any topic you want, and we'll see how it goes. If rude people post offensive material, then maybe we'll do passwords, but until then, enjoy the new forum. BTW it's open to all topics, because chances are, if you can think of it, I've got an opinion on it!

Update June 16,1999   Aaarrgghhh.....I spent 8 hours trying to get my desktop fixed, yesterday. By 1:00 am, Windows was running fine, and I had access to all of my vital documents, EXCEPT my modem won't work. For a mindless online Age of Empires player, this is a MAJOR problem. I'm posting this update with my laptop, but I really hope my desktop starts to work properly. I'll post all of the details later.

My scanner isn't working, either. So, I'll try to scan some family pics at a friend's house later, and post them tonight. I'll also be posting some Age of Empires war stories and pictures, too! Be sure to check back after 9:00 pm. Cya!

Update June 14, 1999   My sister, Tatiana, turns 18 today! Uh oh, I wish I still lived in Boston so I could help my parents keep a watchful eye on this wild one. ;) At any rate, Happy Birthday, Tanya! Now don't forget to register for the draft!

My sister-in-law, Sherine, also celebrated her birthday over the weekend. We had a surprise party for her and I think it actually was a surprise! We all chipped in and bought her a new gas grill, and I was lucky enough to have to assemble it. :(  It was SO hard! There must have been a million pieces involved and I couldn't figure out what to do with all the extras! But when I left the party, the grill was still standing, so I'm now going to absolve myself of all responsibility. The warranty on the labor (ME) ran out at 9:30 PM Saturday evening. ;) Happy Birthday, Sherine! (How many years have you been 29, exactly!?!)

My daughter, Victoria, has been practicing ballet regularly on Saturday mornings. Her hard work is going to be put to the test this weekend when her troupe has their first recital. My fingers are crossed, and I hope she has loads of fun. (BTW, I have to make sure the video camera's battery is charged, or I'll be a goner afterward!)

My other daughter, Alexandra, has been walking for about 2 months now. She's at the point where she'll run all over the place, and into everything she can. She's starting to say the correct words at the appropriate times, also. Her favorite words are, "Thank you," "You're welcome," "Juice," "No!," "Ball."  and a few others. She is growing up too fast. :(

My wife, Mrs ChubbyHubby, is involved in her karate-type excercising, and Shaklee sales. She is doing a great job of getting people to buy her health-nut products. j/k They really are good for you, she tells me. Between working, Shaklee, taking care of the kids, being a homemaker, and exercising, she still finds time to take care of Daddy. I don't know how she does it, but Thank You! You're the Best!

Basically, I've been playing Age of Empires in my spare time. I've joined two clans, and the members of the clans are very nice people. I enjoy the company, and the camaraderie of playing with the same groups of friends that I've made during my RoR (Age of Empires) career. Click here to visit my Age of Empires page!

Everything else in my life remains the same, I suppose.

This site looks best at 1024x768 resolution. I only have IE 4.0, so I hope it works for Nasty Netscsape users. ;)
