Calculating Your G.P.A.

School's Logo
Your academic standing is determined by the institutional grade point average at the end of each semester. The grade point average (GPA) is computerized by equating letter grades earned at Sacred Heart Junior College to the following numerical code:

 A         4 points
 B         3 points
 C         2 points
D        1 point
  F         0 points
WF       0 points

THE FORMULA

Each point represents a quality point earned per semester hour credit.  Total quality points are determined by multiplying the number of points awarded for the grade by the number of credit hours for the course (a student who receives an A in a three-hour course would earn twelve quality points for work in that course).

The Institutional GPA will be determined by the total quality points for those courses in which A through F & WF grades were given divided by the number of credit (gpa) hours in which those grades were given.

GPA =  Quality Points    [GPA Hours (X) the Quality Point for Each Grade = Quality Points for the Course]
