Women With Guitars
What exactly draws a standing-room- only audience to a Women With Guitars performance? Two key elements are the dynamic women themselves, Kim Char Meredith (1999 Hawaii Music Award "Most Popular Pop Recording Artist" winner) and Nashville recording artist Darlyne Cain. Commanding vocal work, solid guitar playing and engaging stage patter invite both fun and intimacy. "Connecting is what it's all about...we thoroughly enjoy performing and we love our friends and fans!" gushes Meredith.
Meredith created the popular Women With Guitars concert series two years ago, presenting local singer-sonwriters, each a' strumming and performing their own original music. When she and Cain decided to team up musically, adopting the WWG moniker was a natural progression. As a duo, they continue to offer original music, but concerts now include cover songs. "Pop, rock, blues and r&b, folk...yeah, we're all over the place," Meredith muses, "but it works. And our rendition of 'These Boots Are Made For Walking' kicks, no pun intended."
Woven throughout a WWG appearance is a free raffle in which winners gleefully draw from the "WWG Bag of Incredibly Cheap Prizes." Says Cain: "We value our fans and strive to give them all we can. However, Kim and I are fiscally challenged, so most prizes are 'Price Busters' acquisitions. Still, there's something to be said for winning a yellow rubber ducky..."
Check out for yourself what the fuss is all about. No guarantees of a rubber ducky, but Women With Guitars promises a good time!
