12 February '00 :
Next release is scheduled for 1 or 2 weeks.
I've corrected a big bug in controller setting. Noone where able
to use something else then the default config (e.g. when using
joypad start key where mapped as '1' key, and so on...) It was
due to modifications in Allegro I hadn't noticed. It's now
corrected and will be present in 1.10 release.
By the way, I'm looking for certain roms not working in Hu-Go!
among a certain list :
Thanks in advance to
those who will help me with it (I repeat I'm looking for version
of these games that doesn't work in Hu-Go!).
As for ports, Hu-Go! should be ported to Mac when I'll have my
sources cleaned (they're far too dirty to be ported to a very
different architecture).
5 February '00 :
Release 1.09 is out now.
This version shows you an improved gui,
you'll find how it will be in the final code.
Under Linux, CD now play audio in bios mode.
Else, some bugs have been removed (in edit ram function e.g.) and
the skin name is now modificable. About this, you can find the
draft skin and the one of PrimeGL in a dedicaced page (simply
called the page). I hope we'll soon see there skins of yours.
Utopia Team is almost ready to open to public (even if far of
being finished). I hope you'll soon see a little news announcing
the official opening and its url. I already thank all of those
that has shown interest in it, trusting me :)
As for Hu-Go! ports, you may have seen the BePCEngine emulator.
It's based on Hu-Go! public sources and soon will be the official
Hu-Go! Beos port. Check it out .
Big Thanx of its author, Lukos (another french guy, the world is
little sometimes :)
28 January '00 : In order to learn how to
code under Windoz, I've made a little frontend for Hu-Go! you can
grab . It's not much but it should help some people with command
line options even if not finished yet. Sources of it will be
released in the utopia team project, if anyone wants to improve
it or makes it for any other purpose, it'll be possible...
As for Hu-Go! development, I've corrected some stuff related to
differences between Linux and Dos versions, plus some other bugs.
I've also received gui sources from a nice coder but he left the
idea of skin and panels as I wanted so I've been unfortunately
obliged to refuse this version of code. Let's wait and see ... :)
This site should also change from server, well, not exactly since
emuunlim team was keen enough to let me use the place on their
server and a secondary/mirror place. I think I'll propose both
places for download since one server is in the states and another
in France. In general, both sites will refer to each other to
allow faster access for everyone. Thanx to the two emu sites that
host my site.
22 January '00 : Release 1.08 today. No
really new feature but debugged ones. The adpcm sound should be
available now. Not perfect but it will let you hear the first
approach (I still need to change the algorithm to a perfect one,
the current one is approximate).
As for the linux world, the minimum bios mode now works
correctly.
I've also increased the sound chip frequency in order to try to
increase synchronisation in CD games with audio (the intro of
DraculaX e.g.). Finally, I've allowed HuCards accessing Adpcm
stuff (Super Star Soldier makes it I think), it was crashing it
before. Maybe we'll hear for Adpcm sound in it when I'll have all
implemented !
I had also forgotten to remove a logging message for sound and
you were getting huge Hu-Go!.log file while speed of the emu were
decreasing while you were playing longer. Of course, it's
corrected in this version.
As for other news :
This site should be redesigned and should also change of hosting
server. I have nothing to reproach to Emuunlim but a very close
friend will soon have his own server and really wanted to host me
(Sorry bwb, next time).
Some of you have maybe already heard a bit about Utopia Team.
This is a project trying to gather creators on the net (but not
only them) having nothing special to do and parentless project.
As an example, before I began taking over Hu-Go!, I was a
"projectless" coder. If such a site has existed before,
I could have find that a emulator was more or less discontinued
and sources available, then I would have say I was taking care of
it but still missing gfx-man e.g. and asking for more help, and
so on...
This way, I'd like to gather "idling" people on the net
with suspended, abandonned projects or idea of project. Everyone
is invited to propose ideas, help, etc...
hmm, I fell like I've not explained it very well. We'll have to
make the index of this site clearer :). I hope it will be online
in a few days or weeks. If you are already interesting in it, you
can already send me a .
14 January '00 : It appears that last
release was containing a buggy adpcm support. I wanted to do my
best to improve the adpcm support I coded in the private alpha
version and finally I broke it. Sorry. It will certainly be
corrected in the next release.
I now have access to Win9X compiler so I may certainly play with
them a bit and not work as much as before on Hu-Go!. I'd like to
make a front end or a cd dumper under Windows. And also a Win9X
port of Hu-Go!. So please, don't blame me if you wait a bit more
for future releases...
The design of this page could also change since I have two
propositions for redesigning this site. Thanks to my two friends
who want to make this look better.

8 January '00 : A classic "Happy new
year" to all :)
I'm sorry not having been able to do more during the holydays as
promised but in fact I did a lot but it wasn't really visible.
I've continued coding Hu-Go! and I'm making a new release today
with sound under Linux and begin of Adpcm support e.g. (plus some
little improvement in iso and hcd emulation).
I've also made some .hcd to have more games running you'll find
soon (if not already) at .
I've also tested some very nice skins provided by PrimeGL (taking
care of the PCE section at .
However, I've made some changes to theduring these holidays
without having written a news just for some more games running.
18 December '99 : As for today, I've
updated the .
By the way, I wanted to call once more for some gui skin. I've
added today an archive containing binaries and source for a
little draft skin generator. The only parameters that could
change are height and width of the font to use but since I give
the source, just a few changes can help you making a new draft
accordingly to these parameters. Find them in the I've also set
up a new draft gui in bmp format for those who don't want or
can't compile an djgpp+allegro code source. This draft is always
.
