Dragon Ball Z
The Cartoon Network will begin to air 96 new Dragonball Z
episodes sometime this summer, which will conclude the Dragonball
Z series by the end of 2001.
Escaflowne
On Toonami
Toonami will premier Escaflowne sometime this year. It's still
too early to know if the Cartoon Network will be the heavily
edited American Fox Television version or the less edited
Canadian version broadcast on YTV. Apparently the Cartoon
Network is also considering broadcast an edited version of
Cowboy Bebop.
Pixar
Receives Oscar
On March 3 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
handed out the 73rd Scientific and Technical Oscars to Pixar,
and for the first time, one of the awards was an actual Oscar
statuette, instead of the usual plaques and certificates.
The
Big O on Cartoon Network
The Cartoon Network has listed The Big O on their broadcast
schedule to premier at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, April 3rd.
Escaflowne
On Canadian YTV
The entire Fox Kids version of Escaflowne has completed its
broadcast on Canadian YTV. According to various reports, although
some potentially controversial material was left intact, the
equivalent of 4 or 5 of the original Japanese episodes were
either removed entirely or partially edited into other episodes
in the Fox version.
Sailor
Moon Movies on Cartoon Network
The Cartoon Network has successfully negotiated the airing
of the Sailor Moon animated features. They have been programmed
for the the Toonami Movie block which has been scheduled to
return on Friday, March 2, 5pm EST &PST with the film,
"Endless Waltz." The "Sailor Moon R" feature
will be shown on Friday, March 16; the "Sailor Moon S"
feature will be shown on Friday, April 13. "Sailor Moon
SuperS" has not yet been scheduled.
