THE B'LAAN GOES INTERNET

Words are murderers of reality.

The B'laan Tribe is one of the marginalized indigenous peoples of the Philippine Island. We inhabit the hills of the province of South Cotabato, Mindanao. We used to occupy the lowlands of the province, when the "settlers" coming from the North, occupied our lowlands.Slowly we were pushed by influx of these settlers to the hills of the province where we are now. Now, our tribe is again threatened by the intrusion of the Mining corporations - particularly Western Mining Corporation of Australia. Their massive mining will certainly destroy our land and dislocate our people.

We feel the pain of our mountain, our identity and culture will be destroyed
We believe in one God. But we also believe that their are spirits in every living thing who guides the existence of each. Everything for us is holy: the land, the trees, the plants, animals adn rivers. God dwells in our land and all the living things that live there. Our Lnad is sacred. Mining our land is a dissacration of what is holy.

We cannot be persons of belief if we do not have the land
All cultures unite to stop the aggression of developmental mining of Multinational Corporations.
