"Brent: an Artist's Raccoon Project"

1494 Rothko Drive, Victoria Park, Fortunecity

Inspired by the book The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, I started an art project of my own to show off the beautiful, natural scenery and friendly, generous people of California's "north state" area; generally anywhere within one-day's driving distance of Redding, California (but Brent does travel further than that when he's able).

Each photograph taken for this art project includes the figure of Brent (named after the actor Brent Spiner, whose work is also an inspiration to me), a 10" tall polyresin raccoon.

After the photographs are taken, one copy is added to the project's main file, and other copies are sent to the person(s) in the photograph, or those overseeing the place where the photograph was taken. For example, when photos of Brent were taken in the River Park in the city of Anderson, California, copies were sent to the managers of Anderson's City Hall. When photos of Brent were taken at a foster care agency, copies were sent to the agency's personnel.

This project is tentatively slated to last throughout the year 2000, and I am doing all of the work, and providing all of the funding myself at present. It is a strictly artistic, not-for-profit endeavor.

When it's finished, I will mount and frame all the photographs and donate them to the local chambers of commerce and/or the State capitol as a gift, an historical record of the people and conditions of the north state during this turn-of-the-century year, and as a private artistic expression.

Brent can travel throughout the northern part of California -- on weekends and Mondays only -- so if you'd like your business, park, garden, home, festival... (whatever adds to and/or exemplifies the beauty of the north state)... to be included in the project, just e-mail me or make a notation in my guestbook, and I'll make an effort to get Brent the Raccoon to your location.
