Nature

The great outdoors has so much to offer,
the wild life, the trees, and the water.
All there for us to view by the naked eye,
don't let the wonders of nature pass you by.

The animals, the streams, the land, and the trees,
is a scheme to which nature holds the keys.
Nature was here long before us,
so let's not go and ruin her trust,
By leaving all of our trash behind,
and making her feel that we're not kind.

Sitting by a stream, under a tree,
brings feelings of peace and calm to me.
Nature has done so much, don't cause her alarm,
make sure her work of art you do not harm.

There would be nothing left, what a great loss,
to give all this beauty a thoughtless toss.
Think of how much that we would all miss,
everything nature does for us, I guess.

She gives to us completely, yes her all,
if we destroy it, there will be no wake-up call.
Don't let her scream due to our carelessness,
when all she wants us to do is clean up our mess.

CAMPING FUN?

I remember going camping with my dad,
and all of the fun? that we had.
When I was old enough, my dad told me,
go pitch our tent by that old tree.

I told him I couldn't put up the tent,
it's plain to see the poles are bent.
No problem, he told me, here's what you do,
gather some tree limbs, quite a few.

OK, I said, I'll give it a try,
I was way too old to sit and cry.
But putting up a tent with crooked poles,
what's more, it's all full of holes.

Yes, camping with dad was lots of fun,
but I was so glad when the trip was done.
Now I take my son with me when I go,
and one more thing that you should know.

I own that tent with the crooked poles,
and yes it's still all full of holes.
My son told me I should get another one,
but I won't, because he is HAVING FUN.

A DAUGHTER'S FIRST DATE

She asked her dad how long she had to wait,
until she could go out all alone on a date.
Dad thought a moment, then said to tell you true,
I guess when you reach the age of about forty-two.

She told him that wasn't what he had meant,
and that her date wouldn't cost him a cent.
Her sister had told her it was a thrill,
when he first let her go out with Bill.

Now come on dad, please give me a break,
I really would like to go out with Jake.
He finally gave in, but so reluctantly,
she told him it will be fine, you will see.

Her dad even agreed to let them use his car,
Jake promised that they wouldn't go too far.
His daughter thought dad was so very neat,
then she spotted him hiding in the back seat.

She asked Dad how could you be so cruel?
And she thought that he was being cool.
He replied, now dear don't start any junk,
next time I'll be hiding in the trunk.

Reflection

I stare at the mirror-like reflection,
but he's looking in a different direction.
Why is it that his face I cannot see,
and why is he looking away from me?

Unlike an image in a mirror that stares back,
of facial features, there seems a lack.
A blank expression where a face should be,
I look closer and see it is not me.

The watery mist rises much like it was steam,
I wonder if this reflection is just a dream.
Then as I turned around to walk away,
seems that a voice begs me to stay.

This reflection of someone I could not save,
i sstuck within this watery grave.
Just maybe it's not a dream, but is true,
yet I just don't know what I can do.
Then I hear the slamming of my bedroom door,
and this reflection returns no more.

I BELIEVE IN ANGELS

I believe in angels, but do you,
do you think that all the stories are true?"
Are there really angels up above,
who watch over us all with love?

They watch over us and guide our path,
so we don't stumble, they are our staff.
They're aware of our every deed,
including the kind of stuff we read.

They are there in times of our every need,
they always follow our God's lead.
Whether you're an adult, or a child,
their compassion after Christ was styled.

To attend to you both night and day,
that is why they were sent our way.
They keep us safe, and bring us cheer,
and help us get through every year.

God sends us angels every day,
to protect us during our earthly stay.
Yes I believe in angels, that it's true,
I've seen the one who's watching you.

The Levi Shuffle

I believed I have discovered a new dance,
it wasn't on purpose, it happened by chance.
While putting on my jeans, I had a real struggle,
so I thought I would call it the Levi Shuffle.

One hand grabs the dresser, or maybe the wall,
anything around you so you don't fall.
It's quite a show if you are the v iewer,
but really risky if you are the doer.

Do the Levi Shuffle, be sure you don't fall,
be very careful, and don't dent the wall.
Make sure you grab something quite sturdy,
remember this dance wasn't meant to be dirty.

I never believed that while getting dressed,
I'd discover a dance, I must be blessed.
I finally managed to get my left leg in,
then while trying to finish, it started again.

I hopped and skipped, and jumped around the room,
itwould have been handy, if I'd had a broom,
to use as a crutch to keep me upright,
as I continued this dance until daylight.

So if you ever have to get up before dawn,
try this shuffle as you put your jeans on.
As you stumble around and you hop and skip,
watch out for that pant leg, or you'll probably trip.

Don't land on the dresser, the floor, or the bed,
just be real careful, and don't crack your head.
It's definitely more fun as the viewer,
and watch your dance steps if you're the doer.

Procrastination

One thing I never would do is to procrastinate,
but mowing the lawn will have to wait.
I was to finish my project by last week,
but there's a delay due to a water leak.

That pipe in the basement has leaked for a year,
yes, I'm trying my best to fix it dear.
I left at 6 P.M. for the hardware store,
yes, I knew that they closed at 4:00.

I'm not putting it off, I'm on the ball,
I've tried the same time since last fall.
Don't know why they close so early in the day,
they know it's a long drive down their way.

You say I should head down there before 3:00,
maybe you're right, let's wait and see.
But procrastinate on anything I do for you?
Not me, it'll be done in a week or two.
