The Second Graduating Class, 1963, "The Rebels"
|
Welcome!
On these pages are the teachers, students, places, and times for the school year 1962-63 at Overton High School in Memphis, Tennessee.
Take a look and enjoy the nostalgia if you were there, and compare if you come from another year at Overton.

The Yearbook
|
The best way to view the images as the site is presently set up is to go to the
The Overton 1963 Rebel Index, or the Overton Index page link (same link) at the bottom of this page, scroll down to the yearbook page of your choice when the index loads, and select the page you wish to view by clicking on the (Click!) button at the left of the title. After viewing the page, use your browser's BACK button to return to the index to select another page to view.
I hope to add 'next page', 'previous page', and 'page select' options in the near future.
(By the way, I am not perfect, so please offer corrections to any errors of fact or text that you encounter. All of us would appreciate it.)

Just think! Four subjects and two study halls a day for us! Homeroom, 8:15am to 3:15pm, 17 credits to graduate, white socks and black shoes! The smoking tree! Overton High on Skippy Lane! Swingin' the grape vines after lunch! Dixie! :)

I am finally scanning again after this long delay. I have been hard at work writing a book, just now finishing the first full draft, and for 'vacation', I will place the remainder of the yearbook online soon. Will announce it at the Classmates site.

Finally!!! The complete Overton 1963 Yearbook is now loaded and ready to view! Enjoy!
Again, if you see any errors or have trouble viewing the pages, please let me know and I will try to correct it. The web site is designed to be viewed full screen with Internet Explorer, but should work with any browser. Thanks.

The look and feel of the Overton Yearbook site has considerably improved. :) The Next Page and Previous Page buttons will now allow you to navigate page by page through the yearbook without having to go back to the index page. There is also a colorful frame around each yearbook page, and a place for any comments you might want to add to any page. I can also add any photos from those times (1963) which you might want to include as part of the yearbook site. Just let me know by email, and it will be done. :)
I am always open to ideas and suggestions for the yearbook site.

Mrs. Krause said John Glenn was NOT a hero even back then! How very right she was!
