-Bio-

J.D. Funk started his musical career early in life. He started playing the drums and learned to produce on computers during high school.

Orginaly a producer before a dj, J.D. experimented with tools like Acid Pro and Fruity Loops and learned most of his musical skills by making music out of simple loops. During the summer of 2002 J.D. was introduced to the rave scene. Fascinated by this new world, he realized this was something he would love to do, although it took almost a year for him to realize he wanted to dj and spread his love of music to people. He finally saved up for and purchased a pair of Technic 1200's and a DJM-300 and began to figure out what style of music he wanted to spin. At first he though about spinning house but realized that he was living in a state of house dominant dj's.

"I pride myself on being different and doing stuff not a lot of other people do. That is in my mind what makes me stand out from some other dj's. I always wanna be a step ahead. I belive that to make it into this industry and make it big you have to step up to the plate and offer something so mouthwatering and juicy that people just want more. I don't wanna sound like my outlook on dj's in general is a "hate" outlook. I'm not trying to be better than anyone but myself, but unfortunatly djing is of the new mellinium as to what rock stars where of the 80's. Everyone wanted to be a rock star- now they want to be dj's. I belive a lot of people become dj's for all the wrong reasons. I belive anyone can stand behind turntables for months and months and mix records. It doesn't take a brain scientist. I feel that to make yourself sucessful you have to step out of the norm."

So J.D. Funk started spinning breaks in a city dominated by house and drum n' bass. J.D. thought that he would stand out more by spinning something not alot of other dj's spin.
