Snowflake or Rosette/Medallion:

This pattern was published originally in Harper's Bazar, Vol.4, p.456, 1871, pattern #80. I tried to rewrite the pattern such that one doesn't have 38 threadends to sew in as in the original.

R 8p separated by 3 ds (last picot to climb to next round)
CH 3+ (to p on ring)
R 4-2-2-2-2-4, repeat, join rings
3)
clovers:
a) R 3-3-2-2-3-3
b) R (shuttle 2) 3+3-2+2-3-3
c) R 5-2-2-2-2-5
d) SR 3-3-2 // 3+(to b) 3-2
continue, last a and b are shuttle 2, c is SR to climb out
4)
CH2+(to 2nd p on c)
CH1-(2-) 8 times, 1 + (to 4th p on next c)
CH 2+2, repeat
5)
CH 2
clovers:
R 3-4-2-3-3
R 3+3-2-2-2-3-3
R3+3-2-4-3

CH 2+

CH 3+(to last ring) 7-3

next clover has no small chain

repeat clovers with and without short chain.
This pattern may require slight blocking depending on the thread type you use, your tension and picot-size!
