Some Notes on the Exhibition
Aileen Familara and Fatima Lasay
at the Blind Tiger Bar and Gallery

Young new media artists Aileen Familara and Fatima Lasay speak, translate, transpose and transcribe
the language of digital media in MACHINELANGUAGE, an exhibition of digital works at the
Blind Tiger Bar and Gallery, and an internet-based installation at www.hoydigiteer.org/ethermorph/

Familara's "Email from Aliens" are based on emails sent from men through an online singles matchmaking service.
In "Memorex", Lasay uses digital photos, ECG and ancient manuscripts for "memory extension."

In the internet installation Ethermorph, Lasay morphs digital portraits
of guests at the bar with their "etherself" to depict the initiation of the shaman.
