SONI (Society of New Icelanders) is an organization for foreigners living in Iceland, their families and friends.

Many SONI members have left their extended families back in their original homeland. We hope that SONI can somehow fill a need for those who wish to socialize and make friends in a relaxed environment where one is free to chat and joke in ones native tongue.

We are an international group and at our meetings a great assortment of languages can be heard. No matter, what language you speak, the language of friendship wins through, a language in which we can all communicate.

SONI provides a host of information for new arrivals in Iceland. Our members are often to be found taking the newbies under their wings sharing their vast experience of life here in our beautiful adopted land.

We meet at least one or twice a month for some social or cultural event and publish a newsletter bi-monthly. Our Internet mailing list address is:

Membership of SONI is open to everyone, we have no barriers on nationality, race, colour, creed, language, or religion.
