Pastels
My art is an extension of me. I am a realistic
illustrator that borders into surrealism. The media
I am comfortable in is chalk pastels. I have a technique

that is hopefully unique only unto me. I use thick
Illustration board that has a linen texture
on it. I start off with pure simple color for the
undertone then I mix in shading over the original
undercoating. I add colored charcole and sometimes
colored pencil for more detail if needed.

When I finish the complete illustration, I spray a very light
fixative on the illustration and every hour or 20 minutes spray
another coat of fixative. The result is a pastel drawing that looks
like an oil painting. I prefer this method over oils because of the
detail one can do in pencil and in charcole pencil.

Pen and Ink
I enjoy pen and ink illustrations as well. My technique is very
realistic and overly detailed. My favorite ink illustrations are from
the early 18th century art.
