Mae Hochstetler
As a dynamic speaker on Evangelism, I have drawn others to the understanding that as members of the body of Christ, that we need to "welcome the stranger" with the compassion that Christ has instilled in each of us. My greatest concern is that of the church being a place of healing, not just a meeting place on Sunday's but a safe place where those who hurt, whether from physical, emotional, or social pain can find respite and love.
In my work as a Confirmation teacher, I have integrated the teachings and lessons of Christ with the pop culture of today to make it relevant for the teenage Christian, helping them further their walk and girding their moral base with biblical lessons and understanding. I have always been accessible to the kids in my class via email, and give them assignments that make their faith real to them.
The time I spent as a chaplain's assistant and an intern, my forte was on building relationships, whether the young, old, sick, or dying. Outreach to the needy and the sick were a priority and the efforts to make Bible study an inter-generational event that built relationships outside of age barriers was just as important. I've always worked to guiding other members of the body of Christ to compassion, mercy and evangelism.
