Butch Wins Grand Prize at Pretenders In Paradise, Professional Category
Looney Tunes was Butch's idea from the day the theme for Fantasy Fest 1997 was announced. With the Theme being TV Jeebie, he wanted to take everyone back to their childhood, when your parents slept and you watched TV Saturday morning. With his costume he did just that! The gun carrying Elmer Fudd, won the hearts of young and old. He indeed did take everyone back to their childhood for just a minute. This costume took 4 months to construct. It is 18'X24' and in downtown Key West, goes curb to curb. This was also our first attempt at a costume this large and in the Professional Category. Again, this was a joint project, although the design was Butch's I did most of the work on Daffy,Donald, and Elmer. I left the construction to him.Pretenders In Paradise is known thoughout the Festival as the premier costume competition. It boast some of the most outrageous costumes ever seen. I was very proud that my husband walked away with the Grand Prize.

Legend has it that the first Spanish
Explorers to land on Key West found
the shore littered with
human skeletal remains.
Upon seeing this,
they named the island
Cyao Hueso...Island
of Bones, from this legacy, the ghost of
Old Key West arise for

FRIGHT NIGHT
ON
BONE ISLAND!

The big 20th annual
Fantasy Fest celebration!
A truly preposterous party that
could only happen in Key West!
