Christopher L. Medina – Bio (August 1999)

Mr. Medina is currently a Business Information Manager at Equilon Enterprises LLC, in Houston, TX, in the Transportation-Information Technology organization.  Other positions held in the Equilon Transportation, Information Technology Department include Team Lead, Desktop Services and Project Manager (Infrastructure).  Prior to joining Equilon, Mr. Medina was employed by Shell Oil Products Company, Transportation-Information Technology as an IT Consultant/Analyst.  Other past assignments with Shell Oil include Lead Group Engineer (Project FALCON) and Project Engineer (Electrical) in Houston, TX, and Electrical Pipeline Engineer in Anaheim, CA.

Prior to joining Shell Oil Company in 1990, Mr. Medina served as a commissioned officer (Lieutenant) in the United States Navy.  He was assigned to USS Merrill (DD-976), a gas-turbine powered modern destroyer home ported in San Diego, CA, from 1986-1990.  Mr. Medina held a variety of active duty assignments on Merrill.  He was personally selected as the Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA), where he lead the largest division on a ship of 305, supervising 46 Gas Turbine Systems Technicians in four workcenters, and was directly responsible for maintenance and operation of Merrill's main propulsion equipment.  Previously, Mr. Medina served as Combat Information Center (CIC) Officer, where he led the third largest division on the ship, supervising 33 Operations Specialists, in two workcenters.  Mr. Medina was commissioned an Ensign in 1986 via the Naval Reserve Officer Training Program (NROTC) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Mr. Medina left active duty in 1990 with the rank of Lieutenant.

Mr. Medina holds an B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Mr. Medina has been a member of the United States Naval Reserve since 1993 currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander.  While assigned as a drilling reservist, LCDR Medina has twice served as Commanding Officer of two Naval Reserve units.

Mr. Medina's personal interests include computers, electronics, martial arts, playing the piano, investing, and reading.
